Birdie Slabaugh a clothing prqg ject leader from Perry township has been awarded the trophy for having performed the most outstanding rural service among the farm women organizations during the past year. The ,award was made Saturday afternoon, by a committece composed of C. V. Kilgore, Aibion Marguetite Shook Ft Wayne ; Jacob Beckner Ligonier Mrs. Anna Prickett Wolf Lake and Guy Favinger Kimmell. All the members of the commitice excepting Mr« Favinger were present. The form of award is a rural painting “The Sower’ valued at about $75 given by the Albion Home Diwvision two years ago. It has affixed to it the name of thy person to whom it has been awarded and hangs in.the public library nearest where “the winner resides for a period of one year. This year the painting will be moved to the Ligonier Library. Presentation of the trophy will be made at the County clothnig project achievement meeting in Albion January 27.
Death of Wesley Cunningham. Wesley Cunningham after an affliction suffered 27 years passed away at 8 o'clock this morning in this city aged about 66 years. He had been a resident of Ligonier many years. Surviving are two brothers Rush and Frank Cunningham and one sister, Mrs. Levi Glant all of this city. - The funeral will be held from the Brown funeral home at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon Rev. T Bacheer of the Ligonier Preshyterian ehurch in charge. A full obituary will later appear in the Banner. Auto Strik®s Woman. Mrs. R. J. Garver of Elkhart is confined to her bed suffering from in. junies received when she was struci by an auto driven by Fred Hager of Elkhart on Main street in that city Saturday night. « Her injuries congist of a severely bruised right ankle and a deep gash on her forehead. On Vacation. : Mr. and Mrs. Chester C. Smith and little son Jack are on a vacation of a week and are spending it with old friends formed berfore they moved to Indianapolis to make their home there. Damaged By Fire. : ‘St. Marks M. E. church in Goshen suffered damages to the amount of $56,000 by a fire Wednesday which threatened its destruction. Slippery condition of the road wag believed responsible for the tragedy. Mrs. Greniger was driver of the automobile in which the four persons were riding. She jammed on the brakes upon seeing the interurban but the automobile ~skidded into its path. Harry A. McNnich 43 was killed at Indianapolis when a freight train struck his. automobile. Three members of his family were seriouslst injured. , Duke Howard suffered fatal injuries in another accident at the capital. H¢ was run down on the street by anl automobile. | At Michigan City Frank Sassadeck 46: and Otto Rudick 65 were killed at a Michigan Central railroad crossing. A swirling snow obscured tha orcoming train. ; Anderson reported two more fatalities in a grade crossing accident, maky ing five within the last week. Y l Charles Davis 35 was instantly killed at Mishawaka Saturday night when - his car was struck by a taxicab. ‘ In addition to the ftalities almost a score were seriously injjured in traffic !accidents and one was found frozen to :death. The body of Alex Banski 65 | was dizcovered in his box board shack on the banks of the Little Calumet river near Gary. It is believed he died of the cold last Thursday.

Steinbarger of Elkhart township had over 4756 muskrat many mink, opossum and skunk and coon skins to sell last week from his trapping work. Recently he and brothers in-law went rabbit hunting and jn passing on the E. Herald land sda dead coon which had just been killed lby dogs. He picked it up and got $8.50 for its hide. - ’
Mrs. Leo Solomon Dead : Died in Birmingham Alabama Mrs.l Leo Solomon aged 65 years. Shq leaves ,one daughter in Birmingham.
