Matter of Mathematics.

It is announced that a six cent reduction will be made in the 1927 levy for the state—a cut from 28 cents to twenty two cents. : If mathematics—pure and simple—are adhered to the reductiPn- will be possible, it was disclosed today by g State official entirely fau;iliar with the figures used in computing tax leves. A lesser reductionqn the (levy he declared, will mean the! gluttering: of the state treasury with the proceeds of an extra cent or two which will not be needed. : i Fach cent on the levy means ap income of $539,734.62. | 5 The state debt has been wiped ouf by the shifting of state funds and through the surplus taxes raised by, levies in years past. ; An increase of $35,000,000 in the total state valuation will increase the income accordingly. - J The total waluation for the state this year it was announced by the tax board following wreceipt of reports for the ninety two counties is $5,307,346,267.00 It represents an in, crease of $35,242,5687 over last year's valuation. By applying this year’s! valuation to mext year’s ;needs.-thefl result will be the 1927 levy.

Overcoats for Pipes

One of the reasons that the cost of electricity to you has gone down within ten years, while. everything else has gone up, is the work of the pipe men, | All day long a man at the power station goes about testing steam pipe coverings, and putting on new coverings. This keeps the heat and energy of the steam from leaking out. ! Another man spends all his time testing pipe joints, repairing pipes instantly when a weakness shows./This means that a little trouble ecan never grow into a big trouble—that no accident could make us long slow down the power plant and give you less current than you needed.

“Electricity, as much as needed, whenever needed, at the least cost to consumer,” is our motto.
