Burned to Death. ] Marion Beidler, 30, died Thursday afternoon at the Souder hospital at Auburn from burns received Wednesday from the explosion of a gasoling blow torch while working at the ‘Gladiator Manufacturing company, Uremic poisoning which developed caused death. More than 90 per cent of the surface of his ‘body was badly bumeq‘ from the blast, but despite the pain, which was partially eliminated by opiates. =~ Mr. Beidler appeared in good spirits. His flesh was so badly seared that it hung in rolls. Before his death Mr. Beidler expressed his desire for a military funeral. He was a member of DeKall 'Post 97 of the American Legion. He lserved three months over seas.

C., government en« tomologist in:charge of the corn boren department held a- conference Thursday at the Hotel Auburn and also vis, ited a number of infected fields. 3 According to Mr. Wallace, twentyfive towaships in Indiana are now affected with the pest, Milford township in LaGrange county being the latesf discovered: to be infected. According to the survey, there are nine townships in DaKalb, ten out of twelve in Steuben, five in Allen and one in La, Grange. There is no: further danger of the spread this year, Mr. Wallace stated: The danger now is from mechanical means, that is from transporting corn which has been infected. Further investigation will continue and if more area is affected it is probable a quarantine will be establisheq and a laboratory set up in this locality. >

Banned as Driver. s Robert Kough, youthful driver of the automobile which ran into an Erie Jocomotive at Huntington Monday, resulting in injury to several of the au~ to’s passengers, was fined $256 in police court and prohibited from driving a machine for one year. : Mary Parks, 13, one of the passengers, was seriously injured when a gsharp piece of steel gouged a hole in the muscel of one leg and ruptured g Dblood vessel. She was facing serious ’consequences, her physician says, Walter Ritzfield suffered a doublq fracture of one arm. The occas, ion was in- celebration of her 87th birthday anniversary. Of her eight children, six were present with their families, two of her children being unable to attend.
