Bootlegger is Caught.

Leo Kehoe of Warsaw had an automobile accident at the wrong time Sunday night and consequently is facing a charge of illegally transporting liquor. Kehoe’s car went into a ditch on the state highway just north of Warsaw. Prosecutor Morrison Rockhill of the Kosciusko circuit court and a companion were motoring on the same road, and they stopped to render assistance to Kehoe. The latter mistaking Rockhill’s frie?d for one of hig own, handed him two!jars. One smell was enough to convince the most skeptical concerning its contents andl Rockhill informed Kehoe he was under arrest. Kehoe threatened to resist, but was finally convinced that it ‘would be best to be peaceable. In the resultant commotion Kehoe walked! and his companion, a Mr. Hire disappeared across fields. Sheriff Maloy was called and the machine was dragged from the ditch and taken to a Warsaw garage. Kehoe was arrested at Warsaw Monday.

Farmers, Take Notice.

It would be a foolish ‘person who would call for ‘the entire removal of the tariff duty on imports, but is it a foolish person who contends that it is fair or right to permit a certain few industries to be protected by an exorbitantly high rate which collects tol} and tribute from the great bulk of the people. In the present situation of of agriculture farmers shoild be relieved of paying tribute in every poss sible way. That is the contention of Albert Stump and Evans Woollen but ‘James E. Watson and Arthur Robinson are contending for the maintenance of the present high:tariff which is costing the farmers thirty-three million dollars a year according to authorities on the question.—Columbia City Post. ~ Pay your Banner Subscription NOW
