. The- descendants of the Samuel P. 'Ott family pioneers of Benton township Elkhart county held their an» nual reunion at the home of Mr. and ‘Mrs. B. T. Kuhn west of Albion Sun~ day. .A bountiful supply of eats and B’ice cream was served to about 50 iguests who were in'attendance. Thosq F'present from ga distance were Mrs. 'lsaac Kasiah of Kansas City and Mrs. fiJ. E. Manshardt and son Donald of ‘Napersville, 111. The next reunion ‘will be held at the home of Mr. and iMrs. Monroe Ott west of Ligonier on the 'same date in 1927. ’

Asleep in “Gasless” Auto.

T'wo young men who gave their names as George Moore and Petq Ullman and their homes as Cleveland phio were placed in the Elkhart County jail Saturday afternoon after they had been found sleeping in a Hudson coach along the Lincoln highway near Sugar hill. They were without money and thec ar had no gasoline or oil irf it. l

' They are being held pending an investigation by county muthorities who think the youths might fhave stolen the machine. ; On Long Motor Tour: Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Proctor of Dallas, Texas called on Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Billman of this city and* delivered a lettec sen” by auto route from thei;" son of Dallas. Mr. and Mrs. Proctor are very close friends of Mr. angd Mrs. N. H. Billman. They were making a trip to their old home town Toledo, Ohio. also touring Michigau and Canada and a few other states. s Dies of Broken Neck ‘ . Ernest Carney 10 year old son off Mr. and Mrs. William Carney four miles south of LaGrange met a tragic death Saturday when he slipped and fell under a milk truck driven by hig father. The lad suffered a broken neck fractured leg and ribs and a badly crushed chest. He lived but’ thirty minutes after the accident, never regaining consciousness.

Hovarter Drink. Crazed. ; 'Warren Hovarter aged 33 a farmer Tesiding near Kendallville crazed from driking moonshine landed in jail after beating his wife for a year and threatening to shoot her. Neighbors interfered and probably prevented a tragedy. : S

Failed to Appear in Court 3 Lewis Fuchs 40 failed to appear in, court at South Bend to answer to a charge of driving an automobile whilq, intoxicated. Instead he obtained a target rifle and twice shot ,himsel}l in the head dying shortly after.

_ Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Billman and son Otis of this city on last Sunday motored to Colon, Mich., to attend the 13 annual Miller reunion There were 93 in attendance. A big dinner and a, general good time was enjcyed by all.

' Said sédled proposals will be opened and the contract awarded forgsaid improvettiéhit on thé 27th day of August 1926. o | » ~ Bids or proposals will be received up to 2 o’clock P. M. on said date. The said improvement is located in Spartd Township Noble County Indiana and more particularly known as the C. F. Haver road when completed. The estimated cost of said improvement is $33,000.00. Bids will be for the completion of the said improvement in accordance with the plans profile and specifications in the office of the Auditor of Noble County, -Indiana and shall include all labor for said work. .In no case will extra compensation be allowed for any additional work, alleged to have been done by the contractor, or contractors, to whom is awarded the contract. 5

Each' bid shalll be accompanied by a personal or surety bond in a sum equal to double the amount of the bid filed for the work bid on, to be approved by said Board of Commissioners. Said bonds shall be condition, ed for the faithful performance of the work ;- the sureties, if persenal, shal} be resident freeholders of the State of Indiana one of whom shall be a resident ‘'of Noble county. :

Said bonds shall be for the benefit of any person, persons or corporations -who shall' suffer any loss or damage by reason of any such bidder failing or neglecting to enter into a contract to perform such work awarded on the bid or to carry out the samaq in any particular or to pay for any labor or material which may have been furnished to: any such contractor or contraetors or to any sub-contractor, agent of superintendent wnder him, in the contruction of said work. Said contract will be let as a whole to the lowest responsible bidder for affidavit of non-collusion, which must be submitted with the bid, and upon failure to submit such affidavit such proposal or bid will be rejected and the Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids and continue said sale from day to day until said contract is awarded. Time for the completion of said work will be agreed upon after the letting of said contract by said 3oard of Commissioners and the sue?cessful ‘bidder. | Orville E. . The 17th annual reunion of the Ger; ver-Long families was held. Saturday August 14 at tHe Home of Mr. and Mrs. Brady Franks. The forefioon was spent in renewing acquaintence and visiting. : A fine dinner was spread on theg lawn in which all present did ampld justice. : A short program was given in the afternoon. New officers were chosen. President—Reed Long.Vice President—Mrs. Will Jourdan Secretary and Treasure—Miss Lera Long. :

Fifty-eight relatives and friends were present from Ligonipr; Cosper+ ville, Wawaka, Garrett, Kendallville, Kingsbury, Fort Wayne, Kimmell, Albion, Kentland, Wolf Lake and Wakarusa, Monroeville, Calif., - Detroit and Kalamazoo Mich., and Kenoska, Wisconsin. Ice cream and cake werq served them after singing “Home Sweet Home” all adjourned to meet, the 2nd Sunday in Angust 1927 aft the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Easterday at Wolf Lake. y

Yeggs Lug Ofi Safe. Additional activities of bandits in the new crime wave which broke out during the week end were revealed in reports made at Fort Wayne police headquarters. Burglaries and yob- | beries during Saturday and Sunday were assigned to members of the detective bureau for investigation and a roundup of suspects is expected. Th most daring of the additional deeds of banditry reported Monday was the theft of a safe containing $366 from the filling station of David Schwartz on North Harrison street Sunday night. The safe was found along the California road Tuesday, The door had been hammered off and the contents of the safe looted. The safe was worth $lOO. |

) Condition Improves. : RusSell O’Neal of New Paris who was injured in an automobile accident Thursday evening west of New Parig was reported as improved today. Hd has regained consciousness although he has not spoken since the accident. Ralph Boyts who was also injured at the same time is reported as recovering. - RANAT N 51 & 100 Chickens Stolen. - Storm Causes Death. . Francis Ritzman 28 Teagarden is dead a victim of a windstorm in the vicinity of Walkerton, Sunday %ae. The ‘car in which Ritzman was riding struck a telephone pole blown across the road, the dimmed lights of the automobile failing to show thq obstacle. Ritzman died in a South Bend hospital.
