Stork Wins in County.

During June there were twenty deaths in Noble county according to the monthly report of the state board of health just received here. For thgq same month a year ago there were 18 deaths. The total deaths for the year up to July 1 are 148 compared to 155 for the same period a year ago. Of the deaths for June this year there were 12 persons over 65 years old, The births for June were 29. Two Girls Drowned. The death toll at Cedar Lake today stood at four drownings this season following the death of Elsie Kara, 11 Chicago and Della Sulista 8 Crown Point. : The two girls waded beyond their depth and drowned while other vacationists made futile efforts to savd them. ' 4 * It was the third drowning in thgq lake within 24 hours.

Wrecked Near Valentine.

An Overland touring .car turned over with its occupants near Valentine Sunday. None of the occupants was seriously injured. After the up-y set the family left the scene of thg accident almost forgetting the baby, Going back to the car they found the infant under the machine unharmed The family was from VanWert, Ohio.

Nappanee Garage Robbed.

The S. G. Moyer garage located just north of Nappanee was entered by robbers the other night and $3OO worth of tire tubecs and a motometer werg stolen. Entrance to the building was gained by prying opem a window, Nothing was taken except the tubes and motometer it was said.

Fireman Dies From Fall.

Captain Fred C. Stahihut veteran Fort Wayne fireman died from injuries sustained Wednesday in a fall at the engine house. The fireman sustained three fractures of the skull when he fell through a coal chute and struck his head on the concrete floor of the basement. ;

Attempt at Suicide.

Josie Dull 18 residing on route 13 New Haven attempted to end her lifg by swallowing poison at the home of a relative in Fort Wayne. She refused to reveal the cause for her act. She was taken to the Methodist hospital and her condition is reported as favorable. :

Record Barley Crop.

John Smith of Elkhart county rej ported the threshing of 45 bushels of barley to the acre from a fifteen acrg field this week. This is believed ta be the heaviest crop of barley evevr reported -from that county. '

Grandmother is Fined.

Thirty--one bottles of home brew and a quart of -moonshine liquor werg responsible for Mrs. Florence Menzner a grandmother of Fort Wayne being sentenced to 35 days in the woman’s prison and fined $lOO and costs,

A band accompanied by a train of boosters in automobiles were here from Columbia City Thursday after, noon advertising the Whitley county old settlers meeting. The band gave a concert on Cavin street.

Collision at fi'arsaw.

William Robbins of Mentone was severely injured when the automobila driven by Lewis Reasoner of Goshen collided with another, driven by H. C. Whestone of Mentone in the business district of Warsaw.

The old Ford car dyiven so long by Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Dowell has passed and in its place has appeared an new five-passenger Oldsmobile sedan, Noble County Club Picnic. The Noble County Boys and Girld club picnic will be held at Freed Park Ligonier, Tuesday, August 24 with the usual fine program.

The westerners have built a fine old Spanish mission in the Palace of Foreign, Civic, Fashion and Agriculture Display and there show:the resources and advantages of their native heath. The musicilans and dancers entertain all visitors who enter the patio to rest a bit after “doing the exposition.” The Exposition continues until December 1. >

This is one of the beauty spots of the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition in Philadelphia. The exposition celebrates the 150th annivers sary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The view shows the tower of one of the main exhibit buildIngs rearing its head up frem among the gorgeous landscape which artists have built around the giant structures which house exhibits from forty-three nations of the world. The Exposition continues until December 1.

Gertrude Davidson the small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Davidson of LaGrange fell while at Oliver lakgq Sunday and ran a stick into her eye, It was not believed that the ‘injury was serious until a more thorcugh examination was made Tuesday. Noah Yoder Barn.

The barn destroyed by fire mentioned in Thursday’s Banner as being struck by lightning Wednesday night belonged to Noah Yoder near the LaGrange county line. The farm has been vacated for some, timebut hay and farm implements stored in ‘the barn were destroved.
