The following information was gain ed in an interview with a member of the firm of MecClintic, Colwfil & Gordy of Syracuse who are paving the road on the soutl& shore of the lake. ' The pavement will be 16 feet wide with a driving space of 26 feet. The road has been closed near the South Shore Inn and the laying of a 7 inch thick slab began Monday. - The new calcium chloride harden: ing process will be used so the road will be open to traffic in ten days after completion.™ It will require 25 mixer days to complete the road. Hotel Opening Arranged. % A dinner dance with cabaret features by spceial entertainers will mark the opening on July 17 of the $3000,000 Wawasee hotel being built 6n the north shore of Lae Wawasee by E. G. Spink & Co., of Indianapolis. One of the best dance orchestras in the state has been engaged for the occasion, according to L. E. Kirkpatrick, manager, and a select company of harpists and vocalists will appear on the program. Boy Hurt. | Harry, six year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tobin, of Elkhart, was struck by an automobile driven by Rollin Coil, on the Lincoln highway just west of Elkhart. He suffered congestion of the brain and other ininjuries and is not expected to’ recover. The lad was walking across the highway together with his father and three brothers, to board an electric car when he met with the accident. -
Petition for Motor Trueck Line. The public service commission of Indiana has set August 4 as the date for a hearing on petitions of James Overlease for permission to establish motor truck lines. The hearing will be held at Elkhart in the city hall. Mr. Overlease asks permission to establish motor truck lines for carry ing property from Elkhart to a number of cities including .the Lincoln Higtway fithrough Ligonier. Fisherman is Hooked. : While casting at Syracuse lake Friday afternoon Almer Baker of Wakarusa, caught a-hook of his bait in the scalp of Harry Smelter, also of Wakarusa, who was fishing with him. It was necessary for Smeltzer to go tq a surgeon to have the hook removed. | Dies from Injuries. John Hipskin, 57, injured when he fell eighteen feet while painting a house at-Wabash, died from the injuries sustained at that time.. Hig back was broken in the fall. Find Two Stolen Cars.
_ A big six Studebaker coach a 1923 model completely stripped of tires and accessories and discovered Saturday morning just north of the Sylvester Cooper farm a mile north of Luther and the discovery of a wrecked big six Studebaker seven passenger old model touring car containing some of the accessories from the stripped coach furnished almost-conclusive evidence that thieves had stolen both machines and fled in a third car after the big touring car had upset a little over a mile sonth of South Whitley Both machines were headed north, on the Goshen road and were about} three miles apart. : s Fight For Watson’s Seat. The fight for James E. Watscon’s seat in the United States senate started in South Bend when Albert Stump Indianapolis Democratic nominee started on a whirlwind canvass of South Bend and Mishawaka. In charge of District Chairman Frank Mayr, Jr., he expects to address not less than sixty precinct meetings held in homes of Democratic workers during the next three days. Stump is carrying on what he says will be a personal campaign. Democrats to Meet, Democratic campaign plans for the contest for senatorial congressional and state offices will be outlined at a meeting of the candidates to be held Wednesday July-14. R. Earl Peters of Fort Wayne state chairman has announced. On the same day women vice chairmen from all districts will hold a conference at Indianapolis.
May Cost Boy His Sight. Harold Edwards, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. :Jess Edwards, of-Argos, may lose the sight of his right eye as the result of a fireworks accident Sunday afternoon at Walkerton. The boy had placed a firecracker in a bottle, and a pieces of the glass struck his eye when the firecracker exploded. : _ Arrested for Speeding. - Howard Palmer of Elkhart, was ar rested by Police Officer Decker and Willis Myers, of Kendallville, was arrested by Officers Waterman and Holderman Saturday for speeding. Both paid fines at Goshen. § : : Fined for Intoxication. Homer Colbern of Elkhart who was arrested at New Paris Sunday by the sheriff’s office on a charge of public intoxication paid a fine of -$lO and costs in the Goshen city court. ..~ Two Ball Games. _ The South Bend Colored Giants will engage the Ligonier team in two games of ball here one ‘Sunday afternoon and the other Monday. Good contests are looked for both days..
} Automobile Is Stolen. An automobile owned by Harry ‘Thomas of Elkhart was stolen at }South Bend Monday night. The car was a sport model Buick roadster. Arrested For Forgery. Wilbur Thomas was arrested at Elk hart on a charge of issuing fraudulent checks and was taken to the county jail. 'GENERAL ORDINANCE No. 79, - In relation to parking of vehicies: Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Ligonier, Noble County, Indiana: } Section 1. ‘That it shall be unlawful for any person to park or permit to stand on the following described streets and parts of streets in the City of Ligonier, Noble County, Indiana, any motor propelled or other vehicle unless such vehicle be stood or parked thereon in the manner hereinafter described, to-wit: } On Cavin Street in said city all such vehicles shall be parked to the curb lines, and where marked, shall be so parked between the white parking lines' marked on the pavement, and the curb line, those vehicles parked on the west side of said Cavin Street shall be headed south and those parked on the east side of said ‘Cavin Street shall be headed north; /On that partion of Sixth and Fifth Streets lying between McLean and Main Streets in said city, all such vehicles shall be parked parallel to the sidewalk lines and within one foot thereof, those parked on the south side of said streets to be headed east and those parked on the north sied of said tsreets to be headed
west; o : ~ On Fourth Street between Mclean Street and the alley between Cavin and Main Streets, no vehicles shall be parked on the south side thereof, and all vehicles parked on the north side thereof shall be parked parallel | to and within one foot of the curb or sidewalk line, and all shall be headed west; : ; On East Third Street between MeLean and Cavin Streets in said city, all vehicles shall be parked parallel to and within one foot of the sidewalk lines, and those parked on the south side thereof, shall be headed east and those parked on the north side thereof shall be headed west; On West Third Street between Cavin Street and the alley between Cavin Street and Main Street, no vehicles shall be parked on the south side thereof, and all those parked on ‘the north side thereof shall be parked parallel to and within one foot of the curb line and shall all be headed west; On Second Street in said city, no vehicles shall be parked on the north side thereof between Cavin Street and the alley between Cavin and Main Streets, and at all other points on said street vehicles shall be parked parallel to and within one foot of the sidewalk line and those parked on the south side thereof shall be headed east and those on the uorth side thereof shall be headed ‘west; On- Lincoln Way West no vehicles shall be parked between Cavin Street and the alley between Cavin and Main Streets and at all other points on said street vehicles shall be parked parellel to, and within one foot of the ‘curb lines, and those parked on the south side thereof shall be headed east, and those on the mnorth side thereof shall be headed west; : On Lincoln Way South all vehicles shall be parked parallel to and within one foot-of the curb lines, those parked on the west side of said Lincoln’ Way South to be headed south and those parked on the east side of said Lincoln Way South to be headed -north; : o On Unjon Street between the east corporation line of. said City and Cavin Street, all vehicles shall be parked parallel to and within one foot of the curb lines, those parked to the south side thereof to be headed east }and those parked on the north side thereof to be headed -west; ' Section 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person to park or permit to stand any vehicle of any kind whatsoever on that portion of Cavin Street in said city between the north line of the right of way of the New York Central Railroad Company, and the south line of Sixth Street, between the hours of two o’clock am. and five o’clock a.m. of the same day.
Section. 3. Auy person who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinance shall on conviction be fined in any sum not less than one dollar nor more than ten dollars for each offense. 7 L ~ Section 4, This ordinance shall repeal all ordinances and parts of ordinances _directly i conflict therewith and shall be construed as supplementary to all ordinances not diTrectly in conflict with this ordinance, and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and due publication thereof as required by law. : Wi e Passed and approved this 24th day. of June, 1926.
