Given Suspend Sentences. | Gail Huntsberger and Maynard Metzler two Wakarusa youths pleaded guilty to charges of violations of the liquor law in the Elkhart circuit court before Judge James A. Drake Huntsberger who was charged with driving an automobile while intoxicated was fined $lOO and costs and given a suspended sentence of thirty days in jail. Metzler was charged with public?intoxication and was fined $25 and costs and given a suspended sentence of thirty days. The fines must be paid and the costs in each case will amount to nearly $5O additional in each case. *

Prisoner a Sulelde. Dorothy Garner pretty 20 year old prisoner in the Madison county jail is grief stricken over the suicuide of her- bandit husband, Edward Garner who hanged himself in his cell ‘Wednesday night. ‘ ‘Garner was awaiting indictment on ali&st degree murder charge for the slaying of Leonard Gray a policeman Making a noose , from a necktie

Garner climbed to the ledge of the window in his cell, tied the moose to an iron bar and jumped from the ledge. : .

He was dead when a .jail guard reached his cell. The guard had left him only a few minutes tbefore. : e Garner left a farewell note to his wife who was confined in B fell across the corridor, from' the cell in whiech he hanged himself. ; ~ “I’m sorry I got you into this mess” the note said. “But we are doomed to be apart anyway. Be sure and cheer up mother and dad if you can.” Mrs. Garner is held on charges of being an accomplice in several robberies in Ohio. ' | ' Farm Bureau Pienic. ~

The members of the second Farm Bureau district will meet at somq! lake in LaGrange county 'Mondayl July 5 for what promises to be one of the most largely attended gatherings ever held in this section. | It will be remenibered that on April 28th at a meeting in Albion the LaGrange County Farm Bureau extended an invitation to the remainder of the district to attend a Fourth of July picnic there. Since the Fourth falls on Sunday this year the picnie will be held on the Monday following.
