Administratioh Measure Dumped. A late dispatch from Washington savs: “The administration bill for tightening prohibition enforcement was thrown into the discard today by the senate republican steering committee along with several other important measures. : “A program of legislation was outlined which leaders believe will per/mit adjournment of congress by the end of this month. . v ‘ ““While the French debt settlement was not technically before the cemmittee, some republican leaders said there was little prospect of action upon it this session. : “The committee sidetracked the administration prohibition bill only after a fight with Senator Willig, republican, Ohio, demanding that it be given preferential status. “While turning down this bill ‘the committee’agreed to have the senate consider another administration measure creating separate bureaus of prohibition and customs in the treasury department. The house already has approved this bill.’ 5%0 to Receive College Degrees

Approximately 580 men and women will receive bachelor of science and advanced degrees at the annual Commencement exercises of Purdue university, in the Memorial gymnasium on the morning of June 15. The commencement Tprogra,m will mark the close of Gala Week which opens Saturday afternoon June 12. According to present figures the school of science will lead in the number of graduates with 116. The school of mechanical engineering is second with 104 . candidates for degrees and the school of electrical engineering third with 87. Other schools have candidates as follows: School of agriculture 83! school of civil engineering. 67; school of pharmacy 50 and bachelor of science in pharmacy 3; school of chemical engineering 21 and industrial engineering 5. Forty-seven ad[vanced degrees are also to be granted.

Creates “Peeping Toms” - A dispatch from New Haven, Conn., conveys the following: “The powerful attraction of the Charleston, as done in lingerie by five pretty "young ladies made a peeping Tom of Karl Kostenbader 22 a graduate of Lafayette College and now an instructor at Yale. “The instructor sat on a fence and watched the scantily clad girls go through their.intricate antics according to C. G. O'Connor who was in a nearby apartment and notified police. “Kostenbader was arrested after an exciting chase during which several shots were fired. .

‘Nobody has yet explained why Kostenbader shouldn't have sat on the fence when he did, but he was held in $5OO bail on_a technical charge of idleness.” f

Fined at Brimfield.

Several cases were heard in the court of Justic of Peace Frank MecCarty at Brimfield over the weekend the. charges including public intoxication operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and speeding. James Jackson and Clifford Mossroe, of Fort Wayne were arraigned on charges of public intoxication and each assessed 4 fine of $lO and costs amounting to $4l. Simon Lantz of Fort Wayne and Ralph Wiley paid fines of $lO and costs amounting to $38.50 each when arraigned on charges of operating motor vehicles while intoxicated. J. C. Patterson of Kendallville paid $1 and costs amounting to $lO on a complaint of speeding.

Yotes For Sunday Shows.

_ The much mooted question of Sunday shows in Auburn launched by H. E. Hart. proprietor of the Court and Empire theaters reached a grand climax near a midnight hour Tuesday night when the city council in closed session voted to r;scgld parts of an ordinance which prohibited ‘Sunday shows. L

Police Search For Owner.

Police today hunted owners of a giant still discovered at Fort Wayne when linemen traced a tapped power line. ‘

The plant consisted of six tanks each of which had a capacity of nearly 400 gallons.

In Old Home Place.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Herald held a homecoming at their Topeka residence for the members of the Lepird family, Sunday. The property hag been sold by Mr. and- Mrs. Herald and this was in the order of a farewell gathering in the old Lepird home.

The remodeling of the George W. Brown home on South Cavin street is nearing completion and when the work is done the residence will be a very handsome one.

Steals 40 Gallons of Gas.
