“Simon the Jester” Makes Hit. A photoplay filled with romance, love, pathos and thrills is “Simon the Jester,” featuring Eugene O’Brien and Lillian Rich will be shown at the Crystal Sunday and Monday. It is a story ‘of high life in England and the heroine is a ecircus performer. Although in no sense a circus drama, the picture has many scenes of the sawdust ring with its most interesting features prominently displayed. It is what is termed a ‘different” picture from the average and it is absolutely 100 per cent screen entertainment, Besides the featured players whose work is characterized by the artistry, the cast includes Henry B. Walthall a popular favorite Edmund Burns and William Platt a midget clown all of whom established themselves in the esteem of the audience. : ;

THE LIGONIER BANNER, LIGONIER, INDIANA.
Polly’s Weekly Shopping Letter, One of a series of letters contribut‘ed by the committee in behalf of the Merchant’s Co-operative Association. Dear Anne:— - Well another Booster Day has pass+ ed but right on its heels comes preparations for the next one which is scheduled to be the biggest and best of all. I haven’t much information about it yet but I'll get it as soon as its to be had, my Motto is “Have the last Word First” or “First with the Last Wiord,” whichever sounds the better. ;
- I was so glad you got over for last Market Day and I hear you walked off with one of the prizes. Just which one, I don't know but I'm glad you got one for now I'm sure you're convinced that its pays to trade in Ligonier, :
Of course, I know it does, as does every one who lives in town. Values in this town simply can’t be beat. I was down town again today and all the windows are filled anew with beautiful spring merchandise. While I admit Pd much rather see it bloom forth along about Easter when spring is in the air, stil] a glimpse of it at this time of year seems to break the long spell of winter and gives us hope that spring is not far behind. Say Anne, now 1 simply have to stop just a minute to listen in on the radio program. You know ‘I and iGeorge” (as Nina Wilocx Putnam would put it) have put off buying a radio because we thought that there surely was going to be a radio made by and by that wouldn't need one of those aerials and one which we could cart arpund with us on our vacations in the summer. Well we found it at last. Its one of the new portable models that Harry Holderness is sell-i ing. It is simply marvelous Arne, all you do is open up a little case very much like a suit case, use the lid for the loop and everything is all set. It has one dial and is as far as I can find out absolutely fool proof. That’s what I'm listening to no wthe program is great and I just have to stop occasionally to listen. Otherwise I might be writing about ‘That Certain Party'tete. . ] QGoing back to the beautiful shop windows, I was saying that you can’t find values anywhere to beat those in Ligonier. | For instance I noticed some of the prettiest dresses imaginable in Levy’s window which upon investigation proved to be far cheaper than one could purchase material and make them. Now if you can beagt that I'd like to known where. : :
Jacobs, too have a beautiful line of dresses that are as big values as 1 could hope to find anywhere I don’t care where even Fifth Ave. The prices are ridiculously low. The new felt hats in the pastel shades'are prettier than ever. I can remember ‘“‘way back when” a felt hat was an outrage but we think those days are gone forever, for every new shipment brings the glorified felt which is “the” hat for this season of the year. And I don’t think anyone makes a mistake in wearing it anytime. In fact its getting to be an all around the year hat. Levy’s and Jacobs both have a line of beauties.
Of course you can always find the latest in hats at the Bon de Chea Shoppe. Anyone wanting an exclusive hand made chapeau knows she can get it here. I think Miss Stuff has as pretty a line of hats as I have seen for many a day and new ones being created every day. . You know there was a time Anne, when a meat Shop was just a plain unattractive butcher shop conspicuous for its uglines. But such a place is fast disappearing. In its place appears a shop which for its attractivelness vies with a florists shop for first honors. - : ;
~ As a rule I can’t see anything attractive in raw meat but when 1 passed Hossingers Meat Shop today I felt as if I could eat a whole ox. Some artistic hand had been at work in that window and dressed all the cuts with carnations and smilax or some other equally beautiful green and the whole effect was very striking and inviting.
15'§,’hi1e I was in Sack’s bakery I discovered among other unusual and exclusive lines a brand new kind of candy which looked so delicious that I bought some on the spot. It was “old English” Fudge and like its name it was the epitome of goodness. Newtons Window has a wonderful display of Spring footwear. Shoes are my weakness, and my eyes have had a feast today. Every shoe shop in town is full of the newest styles and no one would have any trouble satisfying his tastes in that line. Light kids and patents seem to be among the favored styles and they are nothing if not classy. . : ~ 'Since the Chamber of Commerce ‘has backed a movement to boost Ligonier Bread I have bought nothing else and I must say I like it much better than the imported brands, but I guess it took something like this movement to make me realize it. With three bakeries in town it looks as if they ought to be able to supply the wants of the peoplée. Doing ones own baking is simply passed’ here with such delicious pastries and other haked goods to be had from the shops. 1
can’t pass one by anymore without buying something. Theres are three %St;ellars, Coulters and the Lincoln Pastry Shop, and I:can’t decide which is best. ’ I closed the days activities by dining at the American andg oing to the movies. Both the meal and the show ‘were excellent. I always did enjoy eating at the American and I think it was even better tonight than usual which is saying a lot. ~ ‘There’s nothing like a movie to finish a day. We have the best productions here that can be obtained. This !is some tribute” to the owners and
managers of the Crystal Theatre. With no competition they could easily give mediocre productions to their patrons were they not so keen to give quality first last and always. Well Anne if I hadn’t seen this good show tonight I probably wouldn’t have felt so much like writing such a long letter so I'll leave you to decide whether you're glad or sorry 1 took it in. . » Meanwhile I’ll say bye bye for this time | As ever ' . Polly To Make Restitution, According to the Warsaw Times the man who bought clover seed at Warsaw and oClumbia City with forged checks has been located but it did not ‘announce his name. The story it tells is that he is a man with a large family living south of Pierceton; that he was hard up, and that he took this as a means to raise some l{money. ‘lt says that he was located 'ma—de arranemenets to pay back the money appeared in court and was placed under parole for two years but that his name would not be published, | Administrator is Named. - Aldo J. Simpson was appointed administrator of the estate of Canzada E. Faller in the circuit court at Goshen. Lou W. Vail was named as executor in the will, but because of his illness is unable to act. The estate is valued at $25,000. Lew E. Wilson and Helene E. Howard of In-i dianapolis and Kehneth P. Wilson, of Tucson, Ariz., grandchildren, arel the beneficiaries under the will.
