| CUSTOMER OWNERSHIP Lighting Company Sells Hundreds of Shares of its Preferred Stock to Local Residents, . The movement of the large public utility companies in marketing their own securities through their employees to their customers which was started in California in 1914 has spread througout the entire country until it has become a strong factor in financing a class of business which directly affects every inhabitant of every city in the United States. : Indiana & Michigan Electric Com{pany is now selling shares of its Preferred Stock which pays dividends of 7% a year. ‘ The result of the Customer-Owner-ship movement is that today there are more holders of public utility stock in the United States than of any other other class of investment securities. A large percentage of these investors is made up of men and women of mgderate means who have been quick{ to appreciate the safety of these stocks and the substantial return they give. ~ In offering the Preferred Stock for sale the public utility officials who were responsible for the movement felt that the ones to share in the money paid out as dividends should be the customers of the companies—they support the companies and should share in their success. : Principally as the result of this movement there are today more than 2,600,000 owners of public utility -securities in the United States and the movenient has proven a real and lasting benefit to the Investors, the Conipanies and the Public. v The safety of Indiana & Michigan Electric Company Preferred Stock is findica(,ed by the fact that the ComLnany is selling electricity a vital necessity and is patronized directly or indirectly by the entire territory serv ed . Investors in the Preferred Stock of ithe Lighting Company have an added advantage. As the company is a lo’cal one its stock is known to all nearby financial institutions.
