Iy Serious Condition Louis Marker received a message from Elkhkart this morning that his sister Mrs. John Hays had submitted to an emergency operation in a hospital there last night for appendicitis and that her agcndition is serious. Thursday Thanksgiving was a quiet day in Ligonier about all business being suspended. The day was given over to entertaining friends and feasting. The union services at the U. Dr. J. R. Shutz Prof. of Seciology of Manichester (ollege to be Main - Speaker Friday Dec. 4.
The long postponed Father and Son gathering scheduled for Ligonier will be held at the M. E. church December 4th. Prof. J .R. Shutz of the Seciology Department of Manchester College has heen secured as the principal speaker. Mr. Shutz is in great demamd as a speaker before all civic clubs, suc¢h as the Lions, Rotary Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce. Six Students from the college will also be present and will remain over the week end for some constructive work among the grade boys on Saturday morning, will play a game of basket ball with a pick-up team of the high school boys in the afternoon. A Ssocial will be held at the Methodist church in the evening. On Sunday morning the boys will assist the different churches in their church school work and on Sunday afternoon special meetings will be held for the grade boys in the Presbyterian church and for the high school boys .in the Methodist church. The ~ girls will meet in the U. B. church. On Sunday evening the college boys will have charge of a Union Service at the Methodist church. r
T. B. Clinic Thursday. The next tuberculosis clinic sponsored by the .. Noble County Anti-Tu-berclosis Association will be held at the library at Albion Thursday December 3. The annual Christmas seal sale of the Noble County Tuberculosis association opened Friday with the sale of 200,000 seals as the objective. Preparations for the sale have been under wéy several weeks. Mrs. J. E. Pepple executive secretary ot the county association is directing the work with the following named chairmen over the county says the Kendallville News Sun.

Mrs. Pliny E. Hudson well known resident of LaGrange county dropped about half past eleven in the kitchen about haltf past: elven in the Kkitchen of her home east of Howe on the Brighton road. . Mrs. Hudson who was mnearly six-ty-nine’yea,i‘s old was in the 'pann-'y at the moment assisting Lelia Burngide who lives at the home with the midday meal. Miss Burnside said that Mrs. Hudson suddenly grasped at the edge of the pantry door and fell. Death was almost instantaneous.

James Bowling and Carl Piper are now in the Noble county jail serving 30 day sentences for violating the liguor ‘laws. They were taken to jail Friday evening after they had d@ppeared in Mayor U. C. Brouse's court at Kendallville and entered pleas of guilty to charges filed ‘againét them by Prosecuting Attorney C. A. Lincoln. *Bowling was charged with having one-half pint of moonshine liquor in his possession, and Piper was charged with giving liquor to Bowling Mayor Brouse gave each of the defendants a fine of $lOO and costs, amounting to $l3O and 30 days in jail; In the event the fines are not paid the men will be taken to the state penal farm to serve 130 days. - v &F e PP re—— : , Rome (ity Lad Injured. Ross, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Moore residing about two miles west of Rome City is suffering with what is feared serious internal injuries, the result . of héing run down Friday by an automobile driven by Fred Fisher a neighbor -of the Moore family. Two ribs were fractur ed and he was otherwise bruised about the body. The rural mail carrier had just left the Moore home and the child ran out to get the mail fromv the box. While returnihg, the _ho:# was struek by the Fisher machine, one wheel passing over his bedy.

To Much Business.
Business on the South Bend-Fort Wayne (Goldén Fawn) motor bus line Wedhesday was so big that when the east hound bus reached heré at 4:30 p. m. ten passengers six of them tor Fort Wayne and four for Ligonier could not be accomedated in the big bus, which was filled to capacity. The management arranged for them to ride in two Yellow cabs and west of Albion a special bus was sent from Fort Wayne connected with the taxis.—Goshen News Times. . o

Bowman aged 82 vears who died Thursday morning at her home in South Bend from heart trouble. Interment Osborne cemetery. ~ Trial Goes Over.
