v Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pencer and son on the way tovLAaGf'a'nge to visit their parents Mr .and Mrs. John Hoberstroh starting in an automobile from their home in Lawrence Kansas stopped over in this city and visited an aunt of Mrs. Pencer Mrs. George W. Elowers. When .the travelers reached a point in Towa their car left the highway and was badly wrecked. Mrs. ‘Pencer was laid up in a Des Moines hospital eight days with a broken collar bone and other injuries. They left Ligopier for L_a!Grange Friday. e :

Mrs. Harriet Martin ‘aged 91 'years native of Germany and a pioneer resident of Milford township LaGrange county died Thursday morning ajout 4 o’clock at the home of her son William Martin where she had been residing the past several -weeks death regulting from complications incident to old age. s : ;

_ Snow in the Mountains, | G Pueble, Col, June 9-25 - Dear Bir. . ' S I just received a’ letter from relatives of the old home town Ligonuier by the sound of thesletter you are having some very -warm weather to off set the hot days of Indiana [ will give a description of a trip we made in the Rocky Mountains - Sunday. Leaving Pueblo at 7 a. m. we drove 35 miles to the entrance of the Phantom Canon following a trail called the Cripple Creek -Road nearing a mining town called Victor we .see plenty of snow there was ice on the side walks. At this point we were 11,700 ft. above sea level. e | -After we left Victor had driven about three miles we encountered a snow storm only lasted a half hour. our next mptop was at Cripple Creek That istth‘é greatest“gold mining town in the world; it is only a town of about 3,000 population we past right by one gold niinq soce sights at this town Cripple Creek. We were 11,900 above sea leval, Some winter time irom this point we followed the trail until we came to what is called the divide from here we had a natural grade down the mountains to a little town - called Casteade. Here we camped and had dinner it was very pleasant here. It vas the good old summer. time again after dinner we loaded up and started onh to a tourist town called Manitan it is .noted for its fine Minerial water and commodies tourist hotels with every. desired convenience from here we went to the cave of the winds. A wonderful drive beyond description and from liere to the garden of the Gods. Some nice secreny and will say the Garden of the Gods is great enough to be one of the' wonders of the world. After leaving here we went .to Colo Cily the oldest «eity in Colorada from here to Colorado Springs, This has a puplation of 30,000 from here we drove 45 miles south to ' Pueblo from where we started. Pueblo called the Pittsburg of the west on accout of the big steel works. Population over 70,000. Our day travel extending over a distance of 195 miles. Some tired but Oh the wonderful secenery. Has Major Operation.

~Jawmes, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Coulter of this city, submitted to a major operation in .an Akron, Olio, hospital last Tuesday. When a small child the young man suffered an altack of infantile paralysis which left him with a defective ankle. The operation was performed to correct this ailment. The patient withstood the ordeal well. Mrs. Coulter and children have been in Akron for the past week and Mr. Coulter made a a hurried trip there Wednesday. He says the surgeon in charge of the observation assures him of its. success, James Coulter is a model youth and his complete recovery will be most gratifying to his young friends in Ligonier as well as those of the excellent family. :
