Hand Bag Found Money Gone. . While trading in Ligonier last Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shearer lost a hand bag from their car containing a five, a one doliar bill and some change. When their son ’Edward came to school Tuesday morning he found the bag hanging on an awning rod in front of the Kerr furniture store but the money was gone. Mr. Shearer thinks the finder of the hand bag may have removed the money to proteet it and when he ‘iearns to whom it belongs he will re‘turn gk :
- Game Wardens Busy., State game wardens of the conservation department arersted 113 persong resulting in 106 convictions for game and fish law violations during May. Fines and costs totalled $2,155.60. Leading offenses were 55 for poscession and using illegal size seines and nets; 15 for hunting and fishing without license; 13 for taking undersiged fish; 10 for possession of spears, 7 for using trot and set lines on lakes. In the main. officials of the department say the.closed season law on two species of black bass and blue gills April 30 to June 16 is being well observed., < : ;
.Hurt in Auto Wreek. Mrs. T. D. Baughman, residing near Lisbon, suffered numerous and quite sérious bruises late Saturday afternoon at.LaOtto, when the automobila in which she was riding, collided with another car parked at the side of the street. The car was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Baughman, Cyrus Helmer and two (*hildfien. Mr. Helmer was driving the machine and struck the parked car when making an effort to miss another car, which was driven from the left side of the street into traflic on the opposite side.: Mrs. Baughman was thrown to the floor of the car.

Lois, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sisterhen entertained about 25 little guests at the family home on West Third street Monday afternoon the occasion being the sixth anniver. sary of her birth. The guests enjoyed a great time with a feast of igce cream cake and candy. - Childish games were the diversion for the afternoon and all left in a mood of supreme delight.
Struck on the Head
Frank Digging suffered a painful cut on his head last. Friday afternoon while engaged in helping to raise telephone poles along the Drake road west of Kendallville. He suffered the injury when a pike pole fell, striking him on the top of the head. The wound bled profusely and physician was summoned to dress the wound.
Burglars Get $125,
~ One hundred and twenty-five dollars, two quarts of milk and two cartons of cigarettes was the loot of a robber who broke into the George Burgh' restaurant at Etna Green, A gum machine containing nearly $5O of the loot was recovered. :

Marlin Riice says even suckers the most gullible fish in the Elkhart river refuse to bite since the K. K. K. planted a red cross in that stream just west of the Cavin street bridge. The cross was erected last Friday night.

Forty-Eight Members Dine at Hotel Ligonier Tuesday and Give Fine Coneert Afterwards,
~ The LaPorte Boys Band forty-eight in number visited Ligonier Tuesday on an outing trip through central Indiana to Vicennes. They were entertained at luncheon at Hotel Ligonier by the Chamber of oCmmerce and atterwards gave a fine concert on Cavin street in front of the posfoffice. Tt required two large busses, a truck and two touring cars to transport the band and the plan is to camp out nights, furnishing concerts along the way for meals. : : l The usical organization was formed and trained by Prof. 1. 8. Loos under the auspices of the Y. M, C. A. He has over 100 boys and 50 girls under training an dis accompanying the . band on its pilgrimage. Hassinger, aged about 6 byears, native of Woodruft, and.for more than 30 years : a resident of Rome City, d¢died Monday morning at teh home of his brother, Lewis Hac. singer, near Wolcottville, Death fioilowed an illness of .five weeks, which started from inflenza and preumonia. After suffering from those diseases other complicationsg developed which resulted in his death.: The past few years he had heen in gradually failing health.

The municgipally owned electric light and power utility at Goshen has petitioned the Indiana public service commission for authority to decrease the rates for électri¢’ light and submitting a statement to show the earnings o fthe plant warrant a reduction. The Goshen ecitiy. utilities is in competition with the Interstate Public Bervice éompany of - Indianapolis although it buys its current of that company on a long standing contract.
Burglars at Syraeuse,
Robbers visited Syracuse at an edrly hour Monday morning and broke into several places. At the Seider and Burgener grocery, which they entered through—f’.‘ réar window, they secured about $4OO in cash. At the Lgake Side garage, they got about slo° from the cash register, but were unable to gain entrance to the Star clothing store on account of the iron bars on the rear windows. No clue has been found.

Reuben Lutz Goshen David Herrington, Wakarusa and . Oryille T, Chamberlain Los Angeles formerly of Elkhart are among the eight living survivors of the 111 who originally made up Co. G., 74th Indiana Volunteer Infantry recruited in REikhart county for the Civil war. Capt. Chamberlain is the only surviving commissed officer,
Fishermen Fined $25 Each,
Sylvester 1.. Kincaide and Ernest Liper, both of Goshen, pleaded guilty to a charge of fishing for blue gills from&he Elkhart river and were fined $25 each in Goshen ecity court Monday morning, Game Warden Emanuel Click, of Syracuse made the arrests. It is illegal to fish for bass or blue gills until after June 15.

An appraisement of $20.098.29 was made in circuit court at iGoshen -on the estate of Frank A. Richards of Millersburg who some time ago shot and killed himself in the loft of a small barn in the rear of his home, Ernest S. Richards is the administrator o fthe estate. o
