TO REAPPRAISE REAL ESTATE
Eifort Being Made to Lighten The Taxes For Farmers t 0 Be Paid in 1926 -
An. order for the reassessment of all real estate in Indiana in 1925 for the payment of taxes in 1926 was issued by the state board of tax commissioners Monday. A preliminary resolution had been before the board and was made subject to a publie protest for 10 a. m. Monday before final action. Wdhen the hour for thé protest arrived however. no objection had been filed to the assessment.. 5 The proposed ressessment of real estate is a matter that has been uppermost in public discussion recently, both the democratic and ‘republican candidates for governor . having pledged their aid for the reappraisement in the last campaign. Under the tax law the reassessment would not take place wuntil 1926 an assessment being made every four years. With real estate particularly farm lands assessed at high value as .of 1922 when prices of lands were higher tharr now . there has been much agitation for the reaappraisement. . -

There was nothing the matter with the sleighing but there are comparative few horses available for sleighing now, so the purchaser of a sleigh even at ten cents may have trouble in getting his money’s worth out of it.— North Manchester News-Journal,
