’_ . Obitunary _ : - Richard R. Murphy the son of Benjamin and Ngney Murphy was born Feb. 29 1840 in Belmont County Ohio anddeparted this life at his home in Noble County Sept. {6 1924 aged 84 years 6 months and 16 days. : He -was one of nine children having four brothers and five sisters. His father died when he was quite young. He received his early education and later took up ‘the blacksmith trade. While vet young he jurneyed to Defiance county Ohio where he proved to be successful farmer. .

He was united in marridge to Mary Jane Nelson in 1898. To this happy union were born nine children four boys and five girls, @ln his home life he proved to be a very devoted father. o

He joined -the United Brethren church in Defiance county in 1899, He was a devout and earnest worker and attendant as long as he was physically able. ; ' - In 1902 Mr. Mirphy and his wife took his gran.d:daugi‘iter'l\'{iss Laura Chaney to rear. She has lived with them since being of great assistance to him in his lagtter days, and especially since the death of his wife in 1915. He moved to Noble county in 1902 and has resided here since that time. Living with hig son Oliver and granddaughter. . ' - The deceased leaves to mourn his death one sister, Mrs. Ella Layman; two sons Oliver and John and. nine grandchildren. o .

- One More Band Concert. The closing open air band concert of the season will be given from Hote! Ligonier balcony Wedensday evening apd if the weather is anywhere near favorable three is sure to be a big crowd out. . ’ The band goes to Millershurg October 4 and is booked to furnish music for a three day homecoming celebration at Goshen under the control of the American Legion. - Farmer is Freed, : Charles Harris residing near Lake Wawasee appeared in city ¢ourt at Goshen Friday and was given a hearing on a charge of issuing a fraudulent check for $9.30 on the State Bank of Syracuse. He pleaded guilty and was given a suspended sentence of two years at the penal farm and a $2OO fine. , ' ' Wrecks Automobile.

Leo Leverensy of South Chicago was quite badly hurt Sunday when he sent his Haynes machine around a telegraph pole near the Denning farm striking a quy wire and scraping the top of the car off. Isaac Swihart an exhibitor in the horse show at the Kendallville fair is confined to Lakeside hospital recovering from injuries sustained Thursdayafternoon at the fair grOtin(is. Mr. Swihart was leading a colt when the. animal reared and threw him against a tree with terrific force rendering him unconscious for about an hour. A physician was summoned and Mr! Swihart was rushed to the hespital where it was found his injuries consisted: of a fracture of the left arm at the elbow and numerous bruises about the body. _ § . | Sale of Household Goods.

Death Ends Troubles. Mrs. Frances E. Rifer 24 formerly of Warsaw died at her home in South Bend. She is survived by two children one two years old :and the other 21 days old. Her husband Wilbur is in jail charged with non-support: of his family. Two other children were burned to death in a fire about a year ago. - ; ‘ ‘ '

_ Obituary. - Qeorge W. Hussey son of George and Elizabeth Hussey was born in Ligonier Aug. 2 1853"31: a log cabin on the corner where thd Brown Funeral Home now stands and died Sept. 14 1924 at 2:1 SP. M. at his home 314 Martin St. o : ' - Mr. Hussey was well known in Ligonier and the surrounding vicinity having spent his enlire; life with the excepton of"a few’ yeififi‘e in this city. HMe was a plasterer: and cement walk layer by trade but in later years worked in factories of this city. He also conducted a grocery for two years. ' .

Mr. Hussey had been in poor health for the past| two years but never gave up courage and fought bravely for his life until the end. ' , i{e was united in marriage to: Anna E. Snyder at Goshen on May 2 1894. To this union was born two children. Besides his widow he leaves to mourn both children George Ray Hussey and Mrs. Kenneth Henn and one grandchild Ray Anthony Henn. Funeral services were held from his late residence Wednesday at 2:30 with burial in Oak Park. Services wereconducted by Rev. Reynolds. -
