Wilhelm of Elkhart discovered the badly ‘neglected grave of John Proctor a revolutionary war soldier in. Heaton cemetery one mile east of Zion church in Washington township. The grave is marked by a slab which shows Mr. Proctor died in 1856 at the age of 104 years, Mrs. Ellen Proc-tor-Crowley is a great granddaughter of the deceased, lives in the wvicinity of the cemetery. g ; The Daughters of Veterans of which Mrs. Rohmer was formerly head is arranging to properly mark the grave.

- Mayor Warren Lige of ‘Auburn passed judgment Thursday on Frank Madden ‘and Janies Chapman, both of Auburn. Madden was given a sentence of six months at the penal farm and fined ‘ss and costs. Chapman was given five days in jail and fined $25 and costs. -Madden was charged with operating a motor ve-. hicle while intoxicated while Chapman was charged with public intoxication, Both changed their former pleas of not guilty to that of guilty when arraigned. = . Shelbyville says Joseph Bishop living east of Shel‘by—i ville along the Blue Ridge road reports that corn has reached such: a height that raccoons have mistaken it for trees and are attemipting to hide in the stalks. Stalks in all parts of Shelby county are reported as having an unusual height and several, more than thirteen feet tall,| have been found. Noble :county has the big stalks but she lacks foolish ’coon. L s _ 1 Resigns Pastorate. | When the Baptist church board voted at Kendallville to postpone the erection of a new edifice in that city Rev. J. A. Knowlton, for over two years pastor of the church, becamec peeved and resigned. Rev. Dies of Apoplexy.

. D. A. McKinney 73 former resident of Noble county died Monday at his home in Troy township Whitley county following a stroke of apoplexy. He was working in the barn at the time of the fatal stroke and was found ly ing back of the stock by his rwife, who went in search of him after he had twice failed to amswer her call tc come to dinner. w 7 ; Wins a Birthd‘ Dinner. The two peformances scheduled for Friday October sth by Kryl’'s band will be-the crowning feature of this year’s concert season at Kendallville. Albert Stout 65 former residernt of Kendallville died Tuesday morning at his home in Van Wert, 0., from cancer of the stomach, after a lingex@; illness.! Word of his death was (Cséceived by Joe Stout a brother. .
