M. Kruse a jewelry salesman from South Bend, who aileges that the pair unlawfully . obtained possession of a ring valued at 'slso belonging to him. i ' He says that while -he was in the rooms of Mrs. Kelly on a business call he lost the ring and that when he returned for it both Mrs. Kelly and Rowley denied any knowledge of its whereabouts or having 'seen it, Later Rowley was found by a detective while trying.to dispose of the ring in a jewelry store and was placed under arrest. Mrs. Kelley when arrested two hours later, =i she had given the ring to Rowley to dispose of for her. '

High Priced Tree Doctor.

The- Wabash Plain Dealers say that ‘'W. O. Pape a ‘tree doctor who worked for some time in Wabash, received pretty high figures for his work and intimates 'that a number of his customers feel a bit sore. Sev‘eral men of Wabash paid him anywhere from $2OO to $3OO while the town itself paid him $l,OOO. Going on the Plain Dealer says that at Goshen Pape was doing a lot of tree work, and that when his bills were presented there was a great Kkick which resulted in the price being cut, some instances from $2OO to $5O. The Wabash paper says the trees are on the road to récovery, but that. it was really the owners, that ‘were ‘trimmed.” Pape did a small amount of work in North Manchester recently. A story from Wabash this morning is to the effect that Pape had presented ‘a bill to the Wabash county hospital board for $486.69 for work on the " trees at that - institution.—North Manchester News-Journal, . Pape operated in this county doing work in Ligonier gnd Kendallville -and considerable complaini was made against his high charges. One case in this city went so far as to get into court. ; '

Sulphuric Aecid Burns Eye.

- Lester Schott of Warwill was pain‘tully burned in thel eft eye as the result of an explosion of a storage battery at the Bodle garage about four o’clock Monday afternoon. Mr. Schott stated that the explosion was a slight one and the biggest part of the acid hit him in the left eye. His face was not burned nor was. his clothing touched. The gye was badly swollen but Mr. Schott could see ‘a little out of it—Columbia City Post. {* Aims to Reenact Tragedy. '« William H. 'A gash was cut in her scalp and one ankle injured.
