Girls Club Pienic

Township leaders ofthe girls’ sewing clubs of Noble County met Fri day afternoon in the County Agents Office at Albion With the assistance of Miss Rosina Kistner of Purdue Mayor U. C. Brouse and Walter Holcomb they drew up plans for demon strations and exhibits. S Each township club will have a demonstration team and ‘will compete at the County Club Picnic to be held August 9 at Tucker’s Grove in Sparta township . The four best teams at that time will be selected to give dem onstrations at the Kendallyille Fair, The best team chosen | at the Fair will represent the County at the Purgue Round-Up next spring. ‘ Will Recommend Books. : Because it is asserted some history textbooks in use in the public schools of the United States are written in a biased manned and contain pro-British propaganda the Americanization committee of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will select eight books which it approves it was announced Monday at the meeting of the council of administration of the Indiana department of the veterans association meeting at state headquarters. - More than 1,500 persons from various parts of the state Sunday afternoon ignored one of the hardest rain storms visited Wabash this summer and went to the city park where they helped Uncle Jack Higgins celebrate his one hundred and fifth birth day anniversary. McClelland manager of the. state automobil? license department to Ed Jackson Secretary of State. ' During the period ending June 30 the automobile license department issued 552,471 licenses 429,330 of which were for passenger cars.

Pay Boost 3 Cents Hour.

Eight hundred employeesof the locomotive department of the New York Central shops at Elkhart are given a wage increase effective .July 1] amounting te three cents an hour as the result of orders received from Cleveland.
