Indiana Wheat Flour For Indiana L 2 Peoplee, - = [ Indiana farmers produce about 30, 000,000 bushels of wheat a year double the amount to feed everyome in the state. | | All but 10,500,000 bushels (3,000,000 of which is used for seed). of this crop is shipped .out of the state to people who demand the famous flour made from Indigna wheat. " About 7,500,000 more bushels of wheat are brought in from other section of the country. . Pkt

It costs 10 to 15 cents to ship a bus hel of wheat from the west ¢r northwest. We pay it in buying this outside product and not patronizing our own growers, Then it costs'the man in ‘the east or south about the same amount to buy the flour made from the wheat that leaves this state. This does not take .into account the im mense amount of milll feeds -handled the same way. : o This is just a case of swapping wheat dollars ‘with transportation charges, commissions, etc., tacked on when we fail to buy flour from Indiana wheat. Why pay this double charge? : Thus argues the Topeka Roller Mills and’ with good reason. i

o Killing the Lambs, | Several farmers in Union township Whitley county are wondering what is killing their lambs. Newt.. Pumph rey. lost several, Roy Pence two and there are others who have had young lambs Kkilled. 'Whatever: {the "animal is, it works: the same Wway in each case. The lambs are ‘found dead, with the marks of sharp teeth in their throat. There has beeh gonsiderable speculation as to the sort of animal that is doing it. If it was a fox, the fox would drag off the lamb, or eat it, if it is 'a wolf the wolf would eat it. It is also said that a fox will not kill a lamb. If it were a dog, the dog would undoubtedly chase the sheep. It might be a big cat, but JFrank Hickman who is an old woodsman and hunter expresses the belief that it may be an opossum. Whatever it is it kills the lambs and the farmers would like to put an end to it.
