It had an emergency clause and was signed by the governor February 14. = Mrs. Evanna Smith is the enumera tor for Ligonjer and Trustee W. A Jackson will look after the work in Perry township. 4 i ‘
Will Enforce Vehicle Laws,
. While in Ligonier last Thursday making acquaintances and visiting Chief Engle and Officer Bowen ofthe police department State Highway Po liceman Thacker of LaGrange -ad monished the local officers that it i¢ their duty to enforce the traffic laws and the duty of the public to obey them. No motor vehicle may be leg ally operated in Indiana without the proper license, the plates requirad by law and the certificate of title. . While the officers take no pieasuc in making arrests they aire compellied to recognize violations and take the offenders into custody.
The Blue Line Fades.
The ranks of Browand Post No. 505 G. A. R.. of Kendallville are growing thinner.. Of a total membership of fourteen on January 1 this year but twelve are left, two having answerei the last call. Of the .total member ship seven reside in Kendallville in cluding W. W. Riddle, James B. Taylor, W. C. Lane, John Gale, C. G. Baad Eli Miller and A. J. Foster. - Five or six of these civil war veter ans were honored guests at the banquet of American Legion Post Friday held at the Elks' club rooms.

- Joseph Brown of Boone, lowa an engineer on the Chicago & North: western railway who left Ligonier 32 years ago visited 'James Kinnisou Saturday and met many old time friends. Mr. Brown was called to In diana by the ‘death of his mother Mrs. Mary Hire whose funeral ‘was held at Richville Friday. Mr. Brown notes many changes in the third of & century absence. Vo
Denies the Allegation.
A state road superintendent for the district denies the 'charge that the Lincoln: Highway between Stones Hill and Churnbusco is to be paved wita crushed stone. He states the macadam is being used to fill low stretches and on weak spots the aim being te keep thé highway in fit condition until it can be ‘paved next year, !

Funeral Friday.
The funeral of Mrs. Mary, widow of the late John Hire, was held at Richville Friday. ‘Mrs. Hire was the mother of Mrs. Ed Kinnison and pass ed away at the Kinnison home in St. Joseph, Michigan. ] i
Large Graduating Class.
Fort Wayne Central high @ school graduates for 1923 have been announced. There are 173 names on the roll of those who receive diplomas this year. There are 91 girls and 82 boys ‘in the class. o :
