Their Big Event.
The big eVent of the year for legion naries of Noblec ounty will be held Friday when legion men mumbering one hundred or more will§ gather at Kendallville for the annual -convention of legion posts of the twelfth district. Members of American Legion Post 86 are making elaborate plans for the meeting in an effort to royally entertain their guests. There will be a delegation present from Ligonier unless present plan fail.
Mrs. Bell Badly Hurt.
Mrs. Harry Bell wife of a former Noble county sheriff was dangerousiy injured in a fall from a load of corn fodder at the Bell farm in Elkhart township. Mrs. Bell was standing on a wagon receiving fodder shocks- pitched to her by Mr. Bell when a gust of wind sent her - tumbling. She struck the ground on her head and shoulders and for a time was rendered unconscious. ! n e
Contagious Diseases.
Reports of communicable diseases from county health officers to the state board of health last week showed an increase in the number of cases of diphtheria measles and smallpox throughout the state. Eight cases of smallpox ' were reported from Noble county.

"/ A pretty but quiet wedding was solemnized at the Methodist Episcopai parsonage in Kendallville Easter morning when Miss Mary Curtis daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Curtis, of Howe, was united in marriage t> ‘Maynard L. Nelson som of Mr. and Mrs. Riley J. Nelson of Kendallville.
Traxler Resigns.
Carl D. Traxler city civil engineer of Kendallville who has been serving in-a like. eapacity for Ligonier has resigned his position in that-city and will enter the road contracting field. Just what effect his resignation- wiil have on his work here is not yet known.
Highway Now Closed.
The west section of the Lincoln highway between Dun’s' mfll and Churubusco a ‘distance of six miles was closed to traffic Monday and the work of grading preparatory to paving will be started. The job is to be completed this summer.
Mrs. Sheffer Dead
Mrs. Banner Sheffer aged 74 years died at ten o’clock Monday evening at the home ‘of her daughter Mrs. Bertha Henney in Albion, death being due to complications and followed an illness since last August. She had been bedfast for three weeks. * .
To Start Traveler.
The girls’ circle of the M. E. church met at the home of Mrs. C. W. Weir Monday evening and enjoyed a picnic supper.. It was decided to start a commerical traveler at the next meeting the first Monday in May.
Wish to Redeem Cards.
The South Grocery Tuesday discontinued the giving of premium eards with purchases and the desire is to redeem all outstanding cards by Saturday night. e S

William H. Keeth soft drink proprietor in Elkhart after many arrests for liquor law violations was fined $4OO and sentenced to serve 120 days on the penal farm by an Elkhart superior court jury the other day. He had taken an appeal from the city court. A '
Has Tonsils Removed.
~ ‘Rev, F. B. Parker pastor of the U. B. church had his tonsils removed in Dr. Lane’s quarters Tfiesday morning. The ether effects lasted for several hours but the gentleman is now rapidly recovering. :
Miss Brown Sells Store.
- Miss Edna Brown has sold her dry goods and notion store at -Rome City to Mr. and Mrs. Grant Burkett invoicing started’ Monday morning and the store will be taken over at once by the hew owners. -

Dies at Columbia City.
-Mrs. Mose Strouse 58 was bugied Wednesday. She was an aunt ot?lrs. I. M. Baum of Ligonier and a most highly respected lady.
