i Quite # Way O, =~ Lawrence Lyons in a letter to the press. of the state announced that ““Lower Taxes for Indiana Are 'in Sight,” but he does not add that they are quite a way off. He evidently does not regard the new taxes levied against the people for gasoline and increase license fees as taxes, but something else. He continues: . “It is reasonable to foresee reduc: tions' coming from smaller levies be ing fixed this year by the city, coun ty and township officials, who entirely control 90 per.-cent of the tax: payers’ bills. The leg{tslature wisely -decided that Indiana as'a state -should not stand still, and yet exercised a foresight that provides for progress in the next two years without increased expense.” This quotation from the republican state chairman sounds like a joke. Free Bible Lecture. : On next Sunday afternoon tHere will 'be a free Bible lecture at the Lyric theatre given by E. B. Denison of the Goshen Class of International Bible students. The lecture will be at 3 o’clock and will be upon:the subject “What is the True Church; Who only will gain immortality; the difference between the Church and the World.” Miss Belle Elliott who is known as Indiana’s Blind Soprano will’ sing. All are welcome to come and bring your friends. Seats are free and there is no charge for admission, and no collections are taken.
