~ STOLEN CAR IDENTIFIED Machine Driven by Raymond Slack Stolen in Wilwaukee From Fred S. ‘S Nichols , e The original owner of the Lexington e{: driven by Raymond Slack of Ligoniér when J. W. Troyer and four other persons were injured’in a collision on the Lincoln Highway several week ago is found to have been Fred S. Nichols ‘of Milwaukee. The car was stolen June 9, 1920, four months after its purchase. : As the. Autoists Mutual Insurance Co. of Chicago paid Nichols $1,200 for thec ar, it is now that company’s pronerty. "An agent of the company recovered thec ar at oGshen Saturday. Slack who was taken.to the penal farm before the discovery that the car driven by him was a stolen one, is not believed to have been guilty of the theft, but t is assumed he bought the car in Chicago. A letter of inquiry has been sent to him at the farm. Identification was made by one number which had not been entirely eliminated. ; .~ . May Be Transportation Agent. - - H. W. Wallage, of Chicago, the young man -arrested for the theft of a new Reo car in Toledo a week ago, is suspected of being transportatior agent:- for a band of automobile thieves in the Ohio city, disposing of the stolen property in Chicago. Wallace is supposed - to be the runner who drives the stolen machines between the two -cities. He had but $l7 in cash when arrested here by Chief Engle and he boasted to Officer Bowen that he would have been safe in Chicago Monday evening had he not been: intoxicated and drove ‘his car into that of Rush Cnnningham’s Dodge. : 5 Chas. Spaller, of Toledo, owner of the Reo car which was badly damageud in the collision; failed to settle with Mr. Cinningham and that gentleman will ‘be- out the cost of repairs on his ear. ‘Wallace raised: no objections to ac'companying Police Detective Stevenson to Toledo where his hearing on the charge of stealing the Reo machine is to ‘be held. i

One Case of Smallpex.

“ Mel Culver of the New oYrk-Central carpenter force was here over Sunday from Englewood where Frank Shoup men had been putting up ice for the past two weeks. Walter Smalley of the gang went to his home in Waterloo. on account of illnes and it was found his malady was smallpox. He will soon' be out again. He is an old Ligonier boy and a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smalley of Ligonier. .

Schlemmer Entertains.

. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schlemmer entertained his Sunday 'school class. The evening was of great interest, playing games, music and contests were also held. Prizes were - won by the Misses Dorothy Chiddister and Carrie Moser. The home was prettily decorated. Later a most delicious and attractive lunch was ‘erved. | . :

Jay Wiley referred two basketball games at Wolf Lake Saturday night which resulted in victories for Wolf Lake against Washington Centre. The scores were 1 9too and 52 to 8. Wolf Lake has lost but one game out of twenty played this season. :
