-'. -~ Cost of Living Higher. The cost of living in the United States was 1.9 per cent higher in December than in September according to completed records made public by the labor department compiled from 32 representative cities. 'While living costs were 2.8 per cent lower than a year ago they are still 69.6 per cent higher than in 1913.

Enjoy Hotel Dinner. - Miss Opal Landon of Wawaka was given a birthday party Monday evening. The dinner was served at Hotel Ligonier, Manager - Boyts catering. ~Event of the Season. According to the Wawaka Correspondent the event of the season was the Mother and Daughter banquet held there last Wednesday “evening. Ninety guests were present the big meal being cooked and served by sixteen prominent:men, not a woman lifting a hand 'to 2assist. Virginia Jourdan acted as toastmistress. Recitations were given by Mrs. Harry Friek and Miss ‘Helen "Ball. Two piano duets were &lso given. Mrs. Julian of -South Bend was the speaker of the evening. Mesdames WV& Butz and Dora’ Rose answered toas for “Mother” and the Misses Hall and King aptly responded for “Daughter.”

To Reside in Mishawaka. Harold Wayne Bitner of Mishawaka, and Lois Clara Reeve of Ligonier highly respected young people, were united in marriage Saturday January 20, 1923 at the United Brethren parsonage in Albion, Rev. H. W. Franklin officiating. - They were attended by ‘the parents of the bride Mr. and Mrs. Earl Reeve of Cromwell. The newlyweds will reside in Mishawaka. =

Delinguent Tax Sale Small. The delinquent tax list for Noble county in 1922 aggregates $716.09. The sale of property on which taxes are delinquent. will be conducted at Albion February .13. Included in the list is the Noble Tire & Rubber Company of Kendallville which went into the hands of a receiver . The delinquency the largest in the county is $620.05. Fifty properties are listed for sale.

Thirty-Two Does Present. Thirty-two physicians including Dr. Black of Ligonier were present at the . Four-County Medical Society meetings in Kendallyille last Thursday evening. The next meeting will be held at the same place the evening of February SBth. - ' :

Dies of Wounds. - A fatal -shooting' followed a crap game in Fort Wayne in which William Brown, colored was woundéd by Louis Dupee also colored. Dupee wili have to answer a charge ¢f murder in iail without bail. S Recovering - ¥From Injuries. Oren Eshelman LaGrange is recovlering from injuries he received Wednesday night when a truck' he was driving was truck by a G. R. & I passenger - train at' the Michigan street railroad crosing in that town.
