- Prohibition Law Strengthened. . Prohibition legislation which has in various forms received the approval of the Indiana senate continued in favor two bills being pass‘ed"' that would strengthen the dry laws. A bill by Senator ‘Buchanan of Indianapolis making possession of a still puishable by ‘imprisenment on the first offense passed 33 to 2. The sale of foods or drinks containing wood or methyl alcohol is forbidden in the second bill that was passed, 33 to 1. This measure by Senator English of Indianapolis provides a fine of $O5 to $l,OOO and a prison term not to exceed one year upon conviction. A ,
Very Delightful Time. ' . Thursday evening a very delightful dancing and card party was held by the Elks in their parlors following a pot-luck supper. A magician, a Mr. Walkerton, of Kendallville gave a brilliant exhibition of lergerdemain. The card prizes were won for the ladies by Miss Jessie Green and Mrs. Mifflin Hunter while Harry Green and I. M, Bauxp were awarded the prizes for men. : | ~ Another party will be held in about a month along the same lines of the last and will no doubt be followed by others during the spring. :

Haines representative from Noble. They are known as the Fashion Plates of the lower house, and besides being well dressed and popular they are among the hardest workers.. ' ' e *: . - old Citizen Dies. = Robert Marchin McCrory .aged %84 and a resident of Goshen for 75 years died at his home in that city Friday. To Aholish Power Plant, Within the next few days the power plant of the Fort -Wayne and Northwestern Traction company at Kendallville will 'be abolished and all power for the operation of the line will be obtained from the Indiana Service corporation of Fort Wayne. , Was Seeing Things. LIGONIER BOYS AND GIRLS LOSE Drop Basketball Games to Goshen ~ Teams in That City Last Friday , - Evening - % - Ligonier high school basketball teams, both boys and girls have been playing in rather hard luck lately and their last defeat was at Goshen Friday night when both lost. - . Ligonier teams will have no games next Friday night but the week following they will play at Kendallville a return game with teams inthat city.
Accused of Stealing Currant. : A prominent .resident of Goshen stands accused of stealing electric currant from. the municipal plant for eight years at a loss to the city of about $l,OOO. The offender * whose name is not disclosed attracted suspicion when his electric light biil each month did not exceed the minimum charge although ihs home is a large one. The swindle was worked by a system of wiring under the floors no doubt put there for th‘a't purpose. ; : |
Golden Anniversary, = Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rice celebrated the golden anniversary of their marriage at their home ‘in Elkhart township and sons,. daughters, granchildren, brothers and sisters and other relatives and friends gather ed from long distances to do honor to the happy occasion. G
Millersburg Teacher Burned. Miss Ethel Hargrave English teach er at the Millersburg high school was badly burned when she used an oil can to start a fire at the home of W. H. Rigser where she lives. The can contained gasoline instead of ‘kerosene. : ;
Still Out of Jail. : John W. Tabbott South Bend lawyer convicted in federal court and sentenced to Fort Leavenworth penitentary after losing one appeal will try his fortunes in a still higher court and a stay of judgment has been granted him. ; f
