. 'OBITUARY. . Louisa Bradford was a daughter of Joseph and Phoebe Bradford and was born July 17, 1837 ' and was the eighth generation of Gov. William Bradford, Pilgrim Father of the Plymoth ‘colony, Mass. L o
Joseph Bradferd was, married to Phoebe Engle daughter of Adam and Eve Engle and to this union three children were born near Wolf Lake, Ind., Lucinda, Louisa and James who enlisted in the'civil war for the cause of liberty and so never returned. : - The father died at the age of 31 years leaving the thrée small children; the mother was married again to John Squires and to this union eight children- were ~ born, Emma, Adeline, Caroline (Cal) John, Franc. es; Mary, Edmond and Edmond twins The mother then pased on at the age of forthy-eight years. Louisa Bradford was married " ti Frances Marion Stage Oct. 11, 1858, soon after their marriage they moved to a farm one mile south of Topeka ‘there they experienced many priva-
tions known in pioneer life, and where their family of ten children was born, Anson B. of Chicago, Oits of Ligonier, Willard W. of Ligonier, deceased, James: B. of Leesburg, Ward,, deceased, Lorena, deceased, Lillie, Mrs. 8. .A Plank of Ligonier, Lida and Benjamin, twins, deceased L.eona L deceased. . e ~ In 1908 they sold their farm and bought = a home in ‘Topeka, where most of the time they enjoyed good health and active life until at this time they were unable to keep house. They moved to Ligonier October, 1918, to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Plank where they have been tenderly cared for by the daughter 'and husband. The father passing on a year later at the age of nearly 88 years after living together sixty three years sharing in each others: joys sorrows and trials, :
Louisa tSage passed on Saturday morning January 13 1923 at 1:20 o’clock at the age of eighty five years. The funeral was held at the Plank residence Monday afternoon and burial at Salem in'the family lot. The services were condycted by George Berkey First Reader of the Christian Science church in Elkhart. ' She was a kind and patient disposition and to know her wad to love hers s 3
The forepart of her christian life was of ‘the Free Will Baptist faith. Her remaining four children attended the funeral also one sister Mrs. Lucinda Weaver. She had two half-sis-ters Mrs. Franctes Church of Denver, Col, and Mrs, Edmonda Macomber of San Francisco.
