-+ People Should Urge. s ' The taxpayers and all citizens of Indiana should urge upon their representatives in the state legislature support’ of the program outlined by the farm bureau of Marion county as set forth elsewhere in-this issue of the Banner, : ' : The farmers have a sufficient number of representatives to put the pro: gram through if they will get back of it as & body. i L There will be some tall lobbying at Indianapolis during the next seventy day every flunkey on the state payroll will do nothing else and the state will have to stand the expense, but it may be ended if the voters show the proper interest. : ; ‘Write your representatives.
. _ Woman and Man Killed. Mrs. Kate Curtis 55 of Hammond ‘who had been visiting at Servia, a little town near North Manchester, was instantly killed Thursday when run over by a train and Paul Speckeen 30 who tried to save her suffered fatal injuries. A number of passengers attempted to cross the railway track ahead of,a fast train and Mrs. Curtis fell on the ice. Speckeen attempted to save her and was struck by the engine pilot and lived 'but a short time. hTe accident occurred Thursday morning.
- Miss Benham Married. Miss Jean Elizabeth only ‘daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cash Benham formerly of Ligonier and Richard Irving Cargill a former service man aid to Gen. John J. Pershing in the world war were married Thursday at the home of the bride’s parents in Elkhart. The wedding party was a large one. 'Dr. Arnold Elson of Ligonier was among the guests. '
~ Deals in Dynamite, ~ Wesley Holyoke aged 20 is under arrest at South Bend charged with transporting dynamite {to be used in calling attention to firey crosses erected by the Ku Klux Klan. The explosive was taken to South Bend from Culver in violation of a state law. b 1 : g
i To Rebuild Store. Parcel Brothers will rebuild on the old site their store ‘destroyed by fire in Elkhart on Thanksgiving day. At the time of the firé Mr. and Mrs. Mel /Parcel were visiting relatives in Ligonier and they lost-the store and their household effécts. The property was partially insured. .
Gets Heavy Dose. ’ John Marrs of Pierceton a pool hall proprietor was fined with the costs ¥sl47 and 60 days on the penal farm, He was convicted of violation of the prohibition law. : ;

. Motor Truck Wrecked. A motor. truck the property of the LaGrange creamery company and driven by Frank Bull was struck by a Grand Rapids train in that town Thursday and badly wrecked. Owing to the ice the vehicle failed to respond to the brakes and coasted onte the railway track ahead .of the engine. Bull the driver was thrown ten feet in the air by the impact but not seriously injured. Milk cams and butter were scattered-over the ground and passengers on the train gathered up the butter as souveniers and carried it away with them. The truck was a complete wreck. . :

Another Auto Wreck. - While ¢oming to Ligonier Saturday morning from his home #f Wolf Lake Harry Benner had aisrear whee! torn ‘from his car at the corner of Union street and Lincoln Way south when a new Buick Six being roaded east hooked into him. The ice was responsible for theé accident the brakes on the Buick failing to hold ‘the machine. The new machine was also damaged. | ' @ .
- Wants a Brass Band. ‘What is needed in Albion according to the managing editor of the Democrat to contribute to‘the best interests of that town.is a brass band. The scribe modestly agrees to lead such a musical organization free of cost. The aim is to have free open air concerts next summer. :
