Geod Seed Wheat Pays. - Many tests have been run by the Farm Bureau during the past four years on seed wheat. : . One of the most promising varieties now grown in this county is a smooth wheat called Michikoff. This, the second years experience proves it a-leader. It is the best milling wheat ‘W€ grow. . ]
- When -the . Purdue plant breeders bred this variety they sought a vigorous wheat that would stand . the winters, a hard wheat of outstanding milling qualities and a smooth wheat. The Michigan Amber was taken for one parent because of its smooth heads, its good average yielding ability an dits milling qualities.® A bearded Russian wheat caleld Malakoff was was selected as the other parent because of its ability to stand cold weather, The resulting off spring has been named Michikoff after its parents, and fulfills the dream of its founders. ‘ Lo ; '
Only a comparatively small quantity of seed is available in the- state A. E. Lemmon & Sons mnear ‘Albion have made special efforts to produce pure seed of this variey. The seed will be certified unless a slight trace of cockle prevents. = -

Says Taxes Make the Issue.
Stanley Nelson of Auburn, chairman of the Twelfth district democratic committee declares the question of taxes is the paramount campaign issue in Indiana this year. He says: - “I have been in every county in the district, and the Democrats never had a better organization than they have this year. There is - a strong —and growing opposition among the voters ' 0 fthe district irrespective of party, to the excessive taxes being paid under ‘the Goodrich-McCray tax law. : “The voters especially the farmers, are coming to the Democratic party on account of the plank in the Democratic state platform with .reference to-the change in the state auto license law. The Democrats have promised to alter the law so that the automobile- license tax remains in the county where it is paid in. The plank pledging the repeal of the Goodrich-Mc-Cray tax law and the restoration of the law in operation before that law" was enacted has attracted hundreds of voters to the Democratic standard.”’
