Notice is herby given by the Common Council of the city of Ligonier Noble County, Indiana that sealed proposals will be received by it at its office in the city hall in 'the city of Ligonier, Noble County, Indiana, at the hour of 7:30 oclock P. O. B. cars in said|city of Ligonier, the bidder to unload same and thereafter have charge thereof and be responsible therefor. 5
Bidders in submitting proposals to make said described public improvement¥ must accompany each bid with a certified check in the sum of not less than ten per cent of the bid as evidence of good faith that the successful bidder will execute, within ten days from the acceptance of proposals contract and bond satisfactory to said Common Couneil to do theé work of making said improvements as let. A failure of the successful bidders to enter into such contracts and bonds upon the aecceptance of such Droposals will forfeit the checks ' and the sums of money payable thereon to said city of iLgonier 'as agreed and stipulated damages for such'failure. Hit by Falling Brick,
The Goshen News Times of Thursday contained the following item: “John Snyder of Ligonier employed at the Advance Castings company was struck on the head by a falling brick from the cupola of the foundry department at about 9:30 this morning. Dr. Edmonds was called to attend the injured man, who was rendered unconscious and whose injuries required several stitches.” g
Death of Former Soldier.
- Leroy Wilson son of Ellsworth and Daisy M. Snellenberger died at Catryville, Fla., aged 21 years. The body was brought to Albion Thursday morning and from there taken: to Payne Ohio where burial was held. The deceased was an ex-service man and it was while in the army that he contracted a disease from which he never recovered. '
Action Dismissed.
~ The Mabie-Druckamiller case from Syracuse which was scheduled to be tried in Justice Grove's court in Milford last. Friday was dismissed on motion of Prosecuting Attorney H. W, Graham. e ;
However this does not mean ‘that the case will be dropped altogether. The case will be refiled in the circuit court and will come up in the September term. ! : G
~ Aged Blacksmith: Dies. ; Silas McCreary aged 96 years vetean blacksmith of Noble county and a resident of Kendallville the past three years died Thursday at the home of his son Asa McCreary near the Allen Chapel church. Death was due to hardening of the arteries with which he had been a sufferer for several months. The funeral occurred Sature oo : i

Some time ago 350 inmates of the Jefferson reformatory were transferred to Michigan City. William Fleck Killed.
‘William Fleck aged 45 died Friday morning from injuries received in' the Hawks Electric Co., at Goshen the day before when caught in a line shaft. The widow and two sons survive. : .

Roy D. Keehn formerly of Ligonier was' named one of a committee by Gov. Len Small of Illinois as fuel administrator of Cook county. The committee will ration the coal supply for that county. - S
