Narrow Escape from Death, Misses Bonita Rider, Waneta Galloway, Freida Martin and Leah Hosler, all of Rome City, and Ralph Hearne, Gerry Sears and Paul Pyley of LaGrangé, had a narrow escape from serious. injury late Sunday night when a large Buigk touring car driven by Hearne, son of Sheriff Hearne of LaGrange county, turned over at the Bidlack corner. Several of the party were taken to the Rome City hospital to have their injuries treated. ey

Achiel Van Oothegem 35 years old ‘a Belgian was shot and killed by his ‘brother Hector seven years older at their home in Mishawaka at seven o'clock Monday evening following a terrific hand-to-hand fight in which the clothing of both men was torn to shreds. Moonshine whisky is said to have' been the direct cause of the tragedy as the.fight and shooting followed an afternoon of drinking. - Asléep on Track, Louis B.
