* Spring a Surprise. | Charles Nelson the well known clerk in the F. E. Miller grocery store was elected a member o fthe Ligonier school board by the city council Thursday night to succeed Mrs. Lena Stansbury. The election of Mr. Nelgon came as a complete surprise to ‘Mayor Denning and two members of the council. It is claimed the North Side councilmen felt that that section a fthe city is entitled to representation on the board. Mayor Denning urged ‘the reelection of Mrs. Stansbury for\the reason that when W J Bolitho resigns on his removal to Chicago only one member of the board will be left who has had experience. It was the contention of the mayor that the North Side should: wait and name a successor to Mr. Bolitho. Mrs. Stansbury is the only woman to seryve on the Ligonier school board and she proved a valuable member. She was chosen four years ago at the behest of Mayor Henoch. e Mr. Nelson the new member is an honest, conscientious citizen and will give the people his best service. He has been a resident of Ligonier for many years and is very popular.
