She will give the same number at the Commencement ball at Fort Wayne June 3 ) o Minor Pontus proprietor of a grocery store in Kendallville fell while putting up screens at his cottage at Adams lake and fractured his hip. Ralph Smith Badly Hurt.
Ralph Smith son’ of Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of Kendallville is in a critical condition suffering from .injuries received Tuesday when the automobile he was driving crashed into a fence along the Toledo-Chicago pike just .west of the New oYrk Central overhead bridge at Brimfield. Smith in company with his brother Virgil was enroute to iLgonier when the accident occurred. The machine ‘was also occupied by 2 men whom the ‘brothers had met walking along the road and invited to ride Just after }leaving the overhead bridge itis said Smith lost _control of the fcar when it 'struck the soft sand at the side of the road, and it crashed into a nearby fence. Virgil Smith was thrown from ‘them achine but sustained only minor injuries. . A heavy board from' the fgnce bounded through the windshield the machine but sustained only minor in the side with trrific force. The men in the rear seat escaped injury. |
Site For Epworth Institute Selected.
The Epworth League Institute of the North Indiana Methodist = Episcopal conference will have its permanent assembly grounds on the north | side of Webster lake about a mils from the town of North Webster. This was der finitely decided Monday by the conr ference committee delegated to select the site. The committee members, fourteen of whom were present voted unanimously in favor of the Webster lake site. Other locations considered were on Wawasee and Syracuse lakes. It was voted to form immediately a corporation to be known as Epworth eLague Institute of the North Methedist annual conference of the Methodist Episcopal church.
Kitchen Shower.
Miss Mabel Kennel entertained a number of girls Thursday evening in her home in honor of Miss Thelma Mason whose marriage to Leland Calbeck of Ligonier will take place in the near future. Thep arty was a kitchen shower for the bride-to-be. There was a contest during the evening in which Miss Mason won the favor and a two course luncheon was served by the hostess. The second district farm federation meeting .has been called for Columbia Cityy June 16. F. W. Boyle of the federation marketing association will be present and deliver an address. Noble county delegatea will be in attendance and participate in the deliberations. : i
