Logan A. Bly farmer residing near Avilla was arrested on charges filed by thes tate department of chemistry at Indianapolis for selling fertilizer in containers not bearing a state chemist label. Bly is alleged to have disposed of a considerable amount of the fertilizer known as the Morris Big Four contrary to law, which specifies that fertilizer prepared and sold must be approved by state chemists and containers must bear a state hemist guarantee label. The case was continued until Friday morning. The penalty for the offénse is $5O fine for the first offense and $lOO for each subsequent offense. o
Supplementing what the Banner explained concerning a vacation for Frank Fisel water works superintendent the Goshen News Times says: “Frank Fisel has been a valuable man to the city of Ligonier and the city appreciates his efficiency and takes an interest in his welfare by being thoughtful for his future health.” 3 o

Married at St. Joseph.
Miss Lawson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Lawson residing south of Cromwell and Ray Gordon the well known barber better known as Doc Gordon were united 'in marriage Monday morning in St. Joseph, Mich. The happy young couple returned to this city where they will reside. The young friends of the contracting parties gave them a serenade Tuesday evening. Doc Gordon is employed in the Koon barber shop and lis very popular., The bride is a handsome young lady and will be wéll received in Ligonier. ’ - :
Evelyn Spry Injured.
Evelyn eight year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Spry of Goshen was slightly bruised and badly frightened shortly after noon Monday when she was struck by an automobile while on her way to school. The car driven by Charles McGary of Goshen' quickly stopped before it had run over the child preventing probable fatal injury. »The Spry family formerly resided in Ligonier and Evelyn is a sister of Mrs. Lloyd Williamson of this city.
Strange Freak of Lightning
Lightning plays. some strange pranks. Near Wolf Lake last Monday afternoon two _sons of Thomas Keister working in a field were struck and knocked down by a bolt an dthe team valued at $4OO they were driving were instantly kileld. ' Members of the family looking from a window saw the boys lying on the ground with the horses and rushed to their asistsance. The youths soon rallied and related their experience.

Willis ‘A. Fox of Angela head of the department of education at TriState college will deliver the annual commencement address at Fort Wayne vocational school in the high school auditorium on Thursday evening June 15 at 8 o’clock. His subject will be “Doing a Man’s Work.” L Prof. Fox was former superintendent of schools of oNble county.

.There has been entirely too much politics injected into the acts of the state highway commission for the good of the state. ®* The communities with a political pull have received the plums. The commission has been organized along political lines rather than efficiency.
Gets Big Bond Premium
The school board of Goshen last Monday sold to J. F. Wild & Co, Indianapolis $240,000 worth of school bonds at a.premium of $14,074. The bonds bear 5 per cent interest and the proceeds will 'be wused in the construction of a new high school building. g : L . ! : Meeting ‘of Medical Society. | There were present Tuesday in this city at a meeting of the Noble County Medical Society ‘all the physicians in the county but’ two. Dr. Calvin of Fort Wayne delivered a very interesting and able discourse. There was a ‘general .discussion. The dinner was served by the American Cafe.
New Revenue C(Collector.
The appointment of Richard Crosby of Fort Wayne as division chief of the internal revenue office with headquarters in that city is announced. Crosby will succeed Frank Mannix of Fort Wayne resigned. The- change will become efefctive May 31. :
Related to Mrs. Jackson. Neil and Byrd: Keister shocked by lightning near Wolf Lake the other day are nephews of Mrs. Thomas Jackson of this city. John Keister a brother of the boys named was killed by lightning about three years ago.
Supper and Entertainment,
The Rebekah lodge gave a picnic supper and entertainment Thursday evening. Recitations ' were delivergd by Master James Cain and the Misses Deardorff and Thompson. The evening was greatly enjoyed. e
