Directors of the Noble county Farm Federation at a meeting in Albion the other day decided-to hold a couptywide picnic in August. The tax question cameé up for lengthy, discussion and many and varied opinions were expressed as to the equalization in each township. . The Board recommended that each township appoinp a committee of five men to investigate and determine such action as would contribdte to a fair equalization of valuation in the townships. This move was not a reflection on the integrity of the assessors for it was stated most township assessors would welcome such a committee to confer with ‘them. The chairmen of the township' committees will make up a county committee to act along similar lines . from the county standpoint. : o A special committee was appointed to fix a place for the August picnic and celebration authorized to fix the place and to provide good speakers and other attractions. 2
Close Call For Miller Family.
A Ford truck, owned by Fred Rink of one mile and a half northwest of Millersburg and driven by an employee, Virgil -Miller was completely destroyed Sunday morning when struck by the Twentieth Century Limited at the crossing a half mile west of Millersburg. M. Miller, his wife and baby were in the machine when it skidded in some loose sand at the crossing and headed dpwn the track to the east. In stoppping Mr. Miller killed the engine and on seeing the train coming toward them and realizng that they could not get the machine out of the way, the occupants tled to safety. : o The flyer hit the truck headon so thoroughly wrecking it that the pieces picked up later were hauled home in a farm wagon. It is said that no part escaped breakage,

Ligonier Bowlers Win Praise.
A- dispatch from Anderson to the Indianapolis News concerning the Ligonier team at the state bowling tournament says: ; :
“Bowlers from | Goshen, Ligonier and Indianapolis will roll doubles-and singles in the state tourney here this afternoon and_tonight. No five man teams are carded for today. ~ “Kerner’s Bear Cats from Ligonier topped the five man teams last night with a score of 2,669 pins.” {
Operetta Coming.
The Girl’s Glee Club of the Ligonier High School is going to put on a clever Japanese Operetta, “Yanki San,” at the High School gymnasium, the 4th and sth of May. It promises to be a charming affair with its spring blossoms and dainty Japanese maids. The dancing and’' solo work is especially interesting. ' ;
Big Hide and Tallow Sale: C. & A. Green the meat de#s the other day made a big shippment of hides and tallow from their slaughter house. The hides weighed 25,000 pounds and it took eight motor trucks to carry them to Wolcottville where Mr. Grannis.the buyer resides. There was 1,600 pounds of the tallow. -
Those New Uniforms.
The Ligonier band will halve their nifty new; uniforms by Decoration day. The caps, trousers and shoes will be white while the coats will be blue. The next pwblic appearance of the musical organization will be Decoration Day. May 30. S

Transfers of real estate in Ligonier show the deeding of. property by Elizabeth Fencil to Andrew J. Ritter Catherine Slabaugh has deeded to Sidney .Slabaugh et al land in Sections 4,9, 10 and ‘l5 in Perry township. - T 5' ‘ e o " Withstands Operation Well, " , Mrs. Fred Starr operated on in a Fort Wayne hospital for appendicitis Monday afternoon withstood the ordeal well and it is believed that her recovery will now be rapid. Mr. Starr arrived home Tuesday evening.

The Indiana state officers are obliged to borrow $1,300,000 to replenish the general fund before the county treasureys advanced tax payments which are not due the state until June 1. - Notice is hereby given by the ‘undersigned Trustee of Sparta Township, Noble County, State of Indiana that on and after the hour of two o'clock P. M. on the 6th day of May 1922 at the State Bank of Kimmell in the state of Indiana, the tindersigned as Trustee of said Sparta Township will proceed to sell to the highest and best bidder for cash for not less than par value thereof and the accru‘ed interest certain bonds of the school township of Sparta, said bonds being described as follows, towit: The bonds of the said Sparta School Township will aggreagte the sum of Twenty Thousand Dollars and will be in denominations of Five [Hundred Dollars each, will draw interest at the rate of five per cent per annum from the date thereof, payable semiannually on the 30th days of June and December of each year, -the first interest payment being made on the 30th day of December 1922 said bonds shall be dated April 30, 1922 ‘and the first four of said bonds shall be due and payable June 30, 1923 and the next two thereof due and payable December 30, 1923 and two of said honds in ailike amount shall be due each June 30th and December 30th respectively there after until all of said bonds, forty in number, ars fully paid; all .of said bonds have been authorized by the Advisory Board of Sparta Township and have been issued in strict compliance with the law and are issued for the purpose of raising funds to construct an addition to and repair a school buyilding in the village of Kimmell, Sparta Township, ‘Noble County, Indiana. - The undersigned hereby reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
