Shot in Hold Up.
By the confession of two confederates the Elkhart police learned that: Maurice L. Peffley was shot in the back while esdaping from the Blue and White store'in South Bend where he rifled the cash drawer of $l5. The shooting was done by J. C. Bunos a elérk in the store. Peffley claimed he had been wounded by an unknown colored man. The police doubted the story from the first. Harold Stone and Stanley Pash two other N. Y. C. employees are under arrest for complicity in the robbery.

A sister of Mrs. George W. Brown who is here on a visit was quite badly injured in a fall in the kitchen of the Brown home last Monday evening when she fell and ‘cut a bad gash in her scalp. The wound blend profusely. Dr. Lane rendered surgical aid. S :
Still Laid Up.
Harry Gilbert severely injured some weeks ago in an accident at the Auto Body factory where he was employed is still obliged to use crutches in getting about. The injurywas to one of his legs. He hopes to resume his work in a week or ten days. 3
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Henoch left yesterday for Chicago. Mrs. Henoch will go to her old home in Tennesee on a visit and Mr. Henoch will spend the balance of the week with his parents in LaPorte. Mr. Henoch’s father will soon celebrate his 90th birthday anniversary. TR e e
May Result in a Tie, ‘There are thirty-five announced demacratic candidates for office -in Whitley county. They do not seem to realize over there that if all members of the party seek nominations and each candidate votes for himself the primary vote will result in a tie.
Very Sudden Death.
Brice H. Reid former member of the Elkhart city council and a prominent merchant of that city died suddenly Wednesday morning of acute indigestion after being ill one hour. He is survived by his widow. gt

Henry Harshbarger aged 82, a pioneer resident of Elkhart tonship is dead near Topeka of heart disease. A daughter and two sons survive. :

Mrs. John Stinger died yesterday, aged T 1 years at her home in Elkhart township after a long illness. Mrs. Stinger wag a faithful member of the Catholie church in this city. Two daughters and three sons survive.
