Number Only 500 in Cattle Countries .. of Western America. The wolf is gamely making his last stand in America. Bloody-fanged from cattle growers’ stock and fighting against the best traps, rifles, poisons and hunters, he has dwindled to 500, according to a report by the United States biological survey. : ‘ Hunters get pelts through exciting and romantic adventure. In northeastern Wyoming they are now intensifying a drive to clean out what is believed to be a wolf pack of 50 animals. Twenty-four have been killed since the drive began last §pring. e . The old custom of paying bounties for the pelts of wolves is a failure, says Dr. A. K. Fisher of the survey. The old bounty men were in the game more for the money than to rid the land of wolves. They would often leave enough wolves to raise more animals for the next season of hunting. The United States hunters are thorough, however. They have in view the ridding of the cattle country of a great pest. Superstitions that ruled the lives of many of the old hunters are not noticed by the government men.

Animal Keeps Vigil at Door of Hospital In Which Master Died. Broken-hearted but patiently awaiting the return of the pal' who will pever return, a large dog of mixed breed is making his home on the grounds of the New Britain hospital, at New Britain, Conn., where efforts to drive him away are. unavailing. Steve Matos of Bristol, who lived alone with his dog, fired a bullet into his own head November 28. He was taken to the New Britain hospital The dog jumped. into the ambulance with him. 5 : . : Denied admission to the hospital, the dog remained on the doorstep. The following day the master died, but still the lonely dog maintains his weary vigil, awaiting the appearance of his master. He leaves the grounds only for such periods as are necessary to obtain food, given by neighbors. Ll i

It picks up lint, hairs, etc. . without injuring the rugs
The Ohio does not use an electrically-driven brush. Its brush is driven from the roller on which the machine runs—the carpet sweeper principle. This permits high speed in the motor and a powerful suction. At the same time, it permits a slowly moving brush which picks up lint, thread, hairs etc., without injusing the rug. _ P “This is only one of the six things the Ohio does better. Come in and sec these six features.
