Mildred Shankland a Topeka schooi girl was badly injured in an automobile accident near her home the other day when an automobile :in which she was riding with playmates went into a fence. Her cheek was cut open to the bone and the machine the property of Harvey Hartzler was wrecked. The young folks hdd been at a 'gond. skating and were returning home when the accident occurred. -

Violation of Game Laws.

Game wardens of the state conservation department in December last made 198 arrests which resulted in 179 convictions for violations of the game laws. Three ' defendants were acquitted and sixteen cases remain to be tried. Total fines and costs assessed against the 179 convicted persons aggregated $4,237.60.

Five Above Zero.

Men in charge of the water chutes for the N. Y. C. west of the city say the thermometer at the water station registered five degrees above zero at midnight and sometime later Saturday morning. Later it showed ten above. -This is the coldest of the winter.

Fighting for His Life.

- Amos Ramsey 15 is fighting for his life in a Fort Wayne hospital with a bullet hole through his body self inflicted with a 32-calibre revolver. The. revolver had been stolen by an older brother.
