o Obituary, Otis Clyde Butt was born July 11, 1886, at Baintertown, Elkhart county indiana, and departed this life at his home in Ligonier October 5, 1921; aged 35 years, 2 months and 25 days. Scon after his birth he moved with his parents to Syracuse where he spent- all’ of his life until he came to Ligonier three years ago. : " On November 20 1905 he was married to Miss Lucy Hinderer at Syracuse and t 6 this union four children were born; Lois Lorraine aged 15, George Frederick 13, Otis Clyde junjor, 6 and Lewis James 2. At the age of 17 Mr. Butt was graduated from the Syracusé high school, after which he took a .course of training in the Warsaw business college; during which period he also studied law in the office of Graves'& Setclig. He then returned to Sryacuse and entered the ‘law ‘office -of John - A. Dunlap where he' served about a year. Later he entered the law office .of A. L. Cornelius at Syracuse and subsétiu;ntly became 'a rartner in the business this continued until 1910, at which time he bought his partner’s interests. _ln 1511 he formed a partnership with
Geo. L. Xanders which continued un- * lil "his untimely death. ¢+ In 1918 Atty. Butt came to Ligonier as manager of the loan department of the Straus Brothers company'- and he was still serving in th}is position when he died. : Not only was he at all times unselfishly active in the progressive business movements of the- community but he also was conscientiously %dentified with various social organizations.
