r Sometime . ago the Banner gave rmention to a proposed bus and truck line between Goshen and Battle Creek Michigan via Ligonier and the service began Tuesday morning and will be continued. ¢ o : ~ Cars start at 8 o’clock in the morning from Goshen and Battle Creek and will make the following towns: Ligonier, Topeka, LeGrange, Howe, Wolf Lake, Mich., Mendon, Athens, and Battle Creek. Service trucks equipped to carry passengers, baggage and express will be used.

The W, R. C. at their meeting Friday evening in addition to the ritualistic work gave a short program. Mrs. Smalley gave asynopsis of the Articles of Conferation and history O§ their adoption® March 1 1781. Mrs. Jennie Drain followed with a histoty of the present Constitution of the’ U., S. Mrs. O. C. Harsh read an article; From Hungarian banker to Amercian pastry merchant. Mrs. S. P. Smith read the story of the Dane| who came and stayed. ;

School Principal Injured.

F. E. Palmer principal of the Silver Lake High school was seriously injured when the automobile in which he was riding struck 'the Walnut Creek bridge at the west end of Market street in Warsaw. and he was thrown from the: car into the creek.

Indicted For Attempted Murder.

Henry White member of the county board of commissioners was indicted by the grand jury Saturday on the charge of assault and battery with intent to commit murder. The indictment came as a result of ‘a fight last week in wheih it is said White struck Ross Taylor a gravel pit foreman with a shovel. Taylor was injured seriously. S : S

Money On Bogus Orders.

L. J. Mandable, aged 30 years a member of a crew of canvassers soliciting orders for picture ealargements at Elkhart was arrested Satirday afternoon on a charge of embezzlement preferred by Henry Hornbeck manager of the crew, who averred that Mandable turned in spurious orders on which. he was given commissions, thus securing between $2OO and $3OO to which he was not ‘entitled.

Maxwell Car Demolished.

Last Saturday afternoon a Baltimore & Ohio locomotive struck the Maxwell carn driven by ° Frank Sloan, Sryacuse carpenter and completely demolished the auto but the owner escaped without injury other ‘than a cut over the eyer which is not serious. As a. result of the baseball riot in North Manchester September 11th the grand jury of Wabash county has returned six indictments againsts North Manchester residents and three against Warsaw boys. The game was between Warsaw and North Manchester. ! d :

Dr. Yoder Robbed.

In Monday's issue of the Banner mention was made of a Goshen physician being held, up. Dr. A. C. Yoder well known in this city was the victim of the two highwaymen who traveted in*a Ford roadster. Dr. Yoder lost $51.96 / -

Sixty-Seven Members.

There wer sixty-seven members .oi the Boys and Girls stock feeding clubs with their exhibits at the Kendallville fair and the showing was a good one. Harold Sorgenfrei, of Wawaka, superintended the clubs during the season and made a big success of the work. o

Cemetery Cleaning.

The Cosperville Cemetery ‘Association will have a cleaning of the cemetery there Tuesday, October 4th, and all persons interested are requested to gather at Bo’clock in the morning. The ladies will serve a basket dinner to the workers. . |

South Bend Man Shot.

.John Vigh of South Bend was shot just below the heart the other night by Patrolman Benj. Roberts of the police force. Vigh will recover. It is said Vigh was walking down a street in South Bend shooting out arc lights when Roberts arrested him. T

~ The increase in traffic on the New York Central road amounted to ten per cent during the month of August, according to an official at Elkhart. The increase applies to passenger and freight traffic,

Aged Woman Hurt.

Mrs. Elizabeth Clark of Columbia City stumbled over a water plug and fell to the pavement Saturday night, shattering the bones of her Wrist. She is 70 years of age and her injuries are qyite severe. . ; Xl

Syracuse Bests Nappanee.

In a furious ninth inning rally tha Syracuse city team defated the Nappanee Tigers at Syracuse Sunday. Three hits and a passed ball were enough to let out the yracuse team with a 4to 8 wvictory.
