The Lincoln Life bal lteam of [Fort Wayne, defeated Columbia City Grays on their home grounds labor day by a score of 8 to 7. The Columbia City ascribes the defeat of the home tzam to two umpires. :
The Grays take defeat with poor grace and if they get a drubbing here next Suunday which they will it may take the conceit ouc of them.
Eighty Fish Poachers &ined.
Atotal of 80 cases of game and fish law violations are contained in the report of Chief Warden R. D. Fleming from July 25 to August 27. The largest numbefr of violainors were caught fishing without a license and 36 men were fined varying amounts’from $14.50 to $24.70. The ldrgest fine of $265 in the report was assessed against Lewis M. Fite for dynamiting. ;
Dies- of Paralysis.
Clinton Yeager of South Whitley who has been a helpless paralytic for the past 18 years was relieved by death at his home in that place. Although Mr. Yeager had not been bedfast except for the past summer, yet he was greatly afflicted al Ithese years and for ‘the past three weeks suffered greatly.

Wheat Goes Up.
The price of wheat at. the Lyon & Greenleaf mills in this city has advanced in the past few days from $1.16 to $1.21, a raise of 5 cents a bushel. The price of rye has fallen from 93 to 86 cents. ' Corn remains steady at 45 cents .while there has been a slight advance in oats, the price paid today being ‘26 cetns the bushel, -

Ray Disler of Churubusco who is now in the hospital at Johnson City, Tenn., Has been awarded conpensation for disability incurred while in the service. He was given $B.OO per month from date of discharge until June 23rd, when he entered the -hospital and_sBo.oo per month since he entered the hospital. ;
Elmer Is Some Traveler.
Elmer James mail carrier out of Wiarsaw on route 5 has been in the game for thep ast/18 years-and during that time has ‘traveled 165,240 miles made 593,845 stops and handled 1,296, 000 pieces of mail. He underwent an operation some months ago and is just well enough to resume his work.
