Bomtrager, of oGshen had a piece of the wooden 'top bow on the automobile six inches long, and nearly an inch thick driven into her right ear and down her neck to the jaw. \Little hope for her recovery was held out. i Mrs. Christian Bontrager 45 mother of Fern Bontrager who sustained a ‘gash on her haed, and was otherwise bruised, but not seriously hurt. Mrs. Lawrence E. Kercher of Goshen \injured about the hips and spine and [also had the nail of her left thumb fornoff. o o ' l Lawrence E. Kercher, husband of Mrs. Kercehr partial fracture of the right forearm, two cracked ribs, a gash over his right eye and a scalp wound. . Lloyd Slagle about 30, a deep cut ‘over his right cheeck a scalp wound, severely wrenched right shoulder, his right hand:injured, and a cut on ‘hig left leg. . :

Duesler Family Reunion.

- The fifth annual reunion of the Duesler family was held Sunday July 31 at the Kendallville fair grounds with ninety-one present. The relatives arrived at the fair grounds early in the day and the morning spent socially with an elaborate picnic dinner served at the noon hour. : At 2 p. m. a business session was held and the following officers reelected, E. J. Morley, Brimfield, president; William Duesler, Ligonier seeretary and treasurer. Miscellaneous program was then carried out by several members of the family, including children and grownups. At this time an interesting letter was read from Alfred M. Duesler, who is now a member of a U, S. balloon company stationed at Port Mills, Philippine islands. Alfred Duesler is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Duesler of Ligonier. It was decided to hold the next reunion the last Sunday in July 1922, at the Kendallville fair grounds.

WIDER ROADWAYS

Order of State Highway Commission Fixes the Minimum Width at 50 e Feet - :

A fifty-foot roadway is deemed necessary by the Indiana highway commission for all state roads paved to a width of eighteen feet. Where the state roads are less than fifty feet the adjacent land owners will be asked to donate the necessary ground. Another official order is the elimination of al Ishort jogs and sharp turns. The commission desires that all turns be rounding square turns being regarded as extremely dangerous to automobile drivers.. All the highways taken over and to be graveled by the state are to be completed before January Ist, 1922,

Gasolene War On.

~ There is a war on the price of gasolene between the Standard : and Indian oil companies. 7 . Prices on the ‘“‘automobile food” have been lowered a few cents in the past month and gasoline is now retailing in this city at the garages at 21 cents a gallon. A wholesale price of 17.8 cents was announced at the offices o fthe Standard Oil company and Indian Refining company. Goshen dealers yesterday began the retailing of gasoline at 18.8 cents a gallon. - At Indianapolis and several other cities prices are quoted at 19.6 cents a gallon retail. e
