'+ Claimed to Be -Our Dean. In the superior court at Elkhart Judge W. B. Hile sentenced Lisle Wagner, also known as Emmitt Wagfersonville for six months and fined ner, to the state reformatory at Jeffersonville for six months and fined him $lOO. On May 2 Wagner pleaded guilty in the superior court to a charge of petit larceny to the theft of his mother’s bhicyele. Sentence was withheld at that time with the understanding that Wagner would go \straight in the future. eH gave his age as 18 years. ~ Recent action by the court result‘ed from alleged misrepresentations made by Wagner in renting a car from the Elkhart Auto Sales Co. ‘Wagner gave the name of eDan Wagoner of Ligonier, a Truth linotype operator and said he was only going to use the car for two hours. It was 17 hours later when he returned and it was found that he had burned the bearings of the machine and otherwise damaged it. ‘To Classify Elementary Sechools. County school superintendent Guy R. Hall of Albion, has received the rating card to be used in the classification of the elementary schools of Noble county as formulated and approved by the state board of education for the inspection and grading of the schools, Supt. Hall stated that all schools of the county will be affected by the classification card and the first inspection will be held next September. ~ Mr. Hall has been advised that he will be a cooperative agent of the state board of inspector as will the city school superintendents. - - The classification of the schools this year will not be compulsory while next year it will be a compulsory action. ~ Another Auto Aececident. Miss Florence Ward of Kendallville and James Williams who came from Illinois a few weeks ago to make their home featured in a thrilling accident when the machine in which they were riding turned thartle on the ToledoChicago pike three miles east of that city. The accident was regarded as a miraculous one. Although both ' sustained" numerous minor injuries neither was injured seriously. ; air e ‘ ; Rather Die than Live in Yoder, ~ Mrs. William Morris, who left her home at Yoder southeast of Ligonier, has been located in Omaha, Neb. Her husband. found her in thatec ity but she would not return with him and he made the trip alone. Mrs. Morris has signed an agreement in which she relinquishes all claim to any part of real estate owned b% husband. Harry Bechtel aged 53, whose throat was severely cut a few days ago as he was hurled through the windshield of a Buick automobile drien by George Bricker -at Elkhart died from the wound at his Elkhart home. Frank Larmore was fined $lOO and given 30 days in jail at Fort Wayne for violation o fthe liquor laws.

Chief of the detective department of New York city visited Ligonier with his family Friday evening. They are on a pleasure trip. Mr. and Mrs. Roswell K. Earnhart will move into their new home this week. It is a fine residence, modern in all its appointments. A resident on the Blazed Trail kept tab on the automobiles to. pass over the road the other day and counted 471 in less than 12 hours. Leona Wineburg visited over the Fourth with her sister Mildren who is in a Fort Wayne hospital recovering from an appendicitis operation. ~ Mr. - and Mrs. Charles Stephens, who were spending the summer at Stone, Lake were Fourth of July guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. ' A favorable report was made on the petition for a sewer on the North Side and property owners interested lin the gap paving improvement in the city on the Lincoln Highway and Blazed Trail were almost unanimqus for the project. The council will take the necessary legal steps perhaps at the next regular meeting.
