In its effort to keep pace with Senator Harding on his league of nations contortions “the organ” changes its position frequently. One week it s against any league of nations-and the next it is for some kind of league indescribable. -The poor old organ is thus kept In a continuous flip-flop. What the republican - candidate for president needs is a balance wheel and the same governor would serve fpr “the organ.”- i T '
Dr. Elihu Root, sponser for Senator Harding, tried to cure the ills ‘of the republican party- on the league of nations issue in a speech at New York. He d®clares Senator Harding is for a league of nations but not for ali the league negotiated by President Wilson. And still senators Johnson and Borah contiue to insist that the republican presidential candidate is against any league. Root quotes Harding to support his contention and Johnson and Borah quote the same gentleman to sustain theirs. This may be done because Senator Harding has been on both sides of .the question.
