Republicans were compelied to incorporate in their state platform a plank calling for the repeal of the odious Goodrich tax law which deprived the people of their rights to fix tax levies and borrow monev as they see fit, In fact ‘it means the restoration of a large measure ¢f{ home rule for the municipalities and townships of the state. : Had the republicans failed to concede these changes the people would have secured- them through the election of - legislative representatives favorable to the corrections. | People must not be denied the right to raise what funds they need by taxation and expend this money as they see fit. Harry G. Hogan, manager of the Gen. Wood campaign in Indiana, was reelected chairman of the Twelfth congressional district committee by the republicans at Indianapolis Tuesday. Mr. Hogan's home is in Fort Wayne, but the district committeemen were in Indianapolis for the state convention and the election took place there. o ;

An important meeting of persons interested in the construction of a dam at Lake Wawasee, which is to preserve the water level of the lake, will be held at the lake within a few days, Richard L. Lieber, dircctor of the state conservation department, announced today. Mr. Lieber said that the signing of the agreement for the construction of the dam will occur about May 26. o
