| Death of Mrs. Secrist Mrs. Nellie May Stultz Secrist, who since the death of her husband, Lester M. Secrist, March 23, 1915, had managed the Secrist farm in Etna township, Whitley ' county, died early Thursday morning from injuries received the previous Friday. when she fell over a fence in the barn lot. This occurred as she was feeding hogs, the weight of two filled buckets she was carrying to them overbalancing her as she attemped to lift them. she suffering internal injuries as a result of the fall. The decedent was past thirty-five years old and leaves three chitdren, Vera, Wilbur and Lester E., besides the parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Stultz, of Noble county; one brother, Erneist Stultz, of Noble county, and tHree sisters, Mrs. James Sparrow, of Noble county; Mrs. Glen Bailey, of Kendallville, and Florence M. Stultz, at home. The funeral occurred Saturday at 10:30 at the Ormas church, with interment in Thorn cemetery. .
Many County Graduates. Forty-five names were added to the roster of common school graduates as a result of the second diploma examination April 17 held at: the direction of Guy R. Hall, county superintendent of schools. In the first examination 126 pupils out of 257 passed the examination. ' Given Surprise Party., The Wawaka correspondent says: “Friends and neighbors numbering close to sixty gathered - Wednesday evening at the homes of Arthur Franks and Charlss Jourcan .and went in abody to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson and gave them a complete surprise. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are new people here, having purchased the Quayle farm. coming from Illinovis. Light refreshments were served in cafeteria style by the ladies. - A general guod time was had and- it was noticed that the men of the party seemed to certainly enjoy the event. Thes urprise was in the form of a “welcome” to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, and we are glad they picked Indiana for their new home and especlally glad they chose this part of the state.” SR .
