~ Mr. Munton for Linceln Highway. } Mr. Munton, who desires to be rebelelcud senator for Noble county declares in his platform that he favors the Lincoln highway. What the people of the county and particularly that portion of it directly interested in the road want to know is whether Senator Munton is in favor of improving the Lincoln Highway first , “ The Lincoin Highway should have prior rights in Noble county bouuof it is the first to be designated by the old state commission. And further it is a transcontinental highway and re. coguized by the federal government as well as the laws of Indiana. o - If reelected will Mr. Munton pledge himself to use all his force in having the Lincoln Highway tmproved through Noble county before the Blazed Ttail is built? _ " Mr. Munton has the floor. . LSS ~ Jack Buckles Makes Killing. Jack Buckles is in the Shorthorn cattle business. He is in the Shorthorn cattle business because be likes the breed. He not only likes the breed, but he likes to make money and there in money in Shorthorn cattle. : Mr. Buckles has some of his stock in the great Huntertown sale which aggregated over $131,000. He sold a yearling. heifer for $1125 having paid §6OO for the mother. The calt was born on the Goshen fair grounds causing much comment at the time. Along with the prize heifer Mr. ‘Buckles sold ten head of Shorthorns at the sale for an average of $560 a head. Many people thought Mr. Buckles was paying too much for his stock, but he had faith in the breed and he has won. The recent sales ‘have indicated his judment.
' Puts Light Pole Out. Leon Schlotterback Saturday morning in turning the corner at thé Albert Weaver hardware ran- his car into the iron light post, breaking it off. The car was somewhat damaged, but not serfously. A young son who was riding with his father escaped with & slight abrastion on his cheek. » Mr. Schlotterback says ia making the turn off of Third street onto Cavin the coble stone caught the vheel of his car and sent it crashing into the post. The damage to the light post ‘was not great and it was repaired in a few hours. The car had to have a new light. L : | S 5 Mel Jackson Opens Shop. Mel Jackson has moved from Elkhart to Ligonier, occupying the residefce at 119 First street. He has rented one of the Kerr fram- buildings on South Cavin street and opened a. tire repair shop with auto accessories. He will place an air tank at the street curbing and serve free air for tire inflating. Mr. Jackson is a native of Ligonier, but has resided in Elkhart for a number of years. =« . Convention Lights, Indiana republicans hold their state convention in Indianapolis May 12 and 13.- Senator Watson will be the temporary chairman and deliver the keynote address. Senator New will be Jbermanent chairman. Gov. Goodrich and National Chairman Will Hays .are down for- speeches. The standpatters are in complete control.
