By sustaining the county unit rosad law the supreme court has opened the way for much ighway improvement this summer. 0 ~ Perry township will no doubt secure at least one of her roads and Sparata will now push her project. Other townships will get busy at once. : . : Noble county commissioners will consider highway' matters at their session this week. It 18 understood that Kendallville has a project which she will not doubt push. -
OMO . - Maynard Wayne Riser son of Elmer and Clara Riser was born in Noble County, Indiana, February 15, 1912 and departed this life at Elkthart ,Indiana, Marca 24, 1920 aged 8 years 1 month 9 days. He leaves to mourn his early departure father, mother, two sisters three brothers, namely, Mrs. Mildred Sewell, Milburn, Erma, J. D. and Woodrow and many friends. = -Maynard was of sunny disposition with a smile as a greeting for everybody and appreicated very much the gifts and words of kindness given him during his sickness. = = ° Then with bodies all celestial ; And with robes as white as snow - We shall join the heavenly chorus Often longed for her below. The family wish to thank the neighbors and friends for their kindness, help and sympathy shown during the sickness death and burial of their beloved one. Also for the beautiful floral offerings. Those who atended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Emma Zook, Goshen, Jake Baker, Truman Bloughs, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fredrick, Mrs. Ben Wise, Della Haines and Ed Risser and family all from Middlebury, Mr. and Mrs. Will Risser and family from Millersburg. . ’ ' | Good News For the Kids | - Parents can no longer keep their children out of school on the grounds of employing them, according to an interpretation of the compulsory school attendance law fssued by the ‘state board of truancy. In the judgment of the board, employment certificates can not be issued except to children who are being employed for hire. The board held that parents can not émploy their children. -
“It 18 the judgment of the truancy board,” the statement says, “that for a pupil to remain outiof school it is necessary for him to be actually employed that the transaction must, in every sense, be made in good faith, and that the relationship of employer and employe must exist. . It is the judgment of the board that the requirements of the law have not been met when a pupil remains at home to assist his parents.” ' ’ ; School attendance officers have been instructed to act in accordance with the provisions of the interpretation of the law. ' = - ' Three Candldates in Fileld. It is gratitying to note that C. J. Munton has filed his declaration of candidacy for joint representative to succeed himself in the Noble, LaGrange, Steuben circuit. Neither Munton nor C. 8. Nichols have any use for R. M. Waddell, editor of the LaGrange Standard and the fight will be a pretty one. Mr. Nichols is a banker of ‘Howe and is popular in Ligonfer. It is' a republican scrap with the nominee practically sure of election, as Steuben and LaGrange counties are regarded as hopelessly republican. They whole fight will be in the pri-
