New Gravel Roads

Petitions have been filed by Attorney Wigton for two gravel roads in Perry township, one known as the W, H. Loy and the other as the W. A. Cochran roads. Both are to be constructed of gravel under the eouaty unis. The Loy road proposed begins at the viaduct on Cavin street and extends to the LaGrange county line te connect with the Millersburg pavement. The width will be 28-feet. ~ The’ Cochran road begins at the intersection ef Chatham and North streets in the city of Ligonier and sakes the old Pigeon highway to: the LaGrange ceunty line. The width of this highway is 28 feet and both reads are to have cement eurbing. - :

Te Be Married Sunday

Miss Harriet Schlesinger, af Hammond, and Harry Selig, of this city, will be united im marriage at the Congress hotel, Chicago, next Sunday at 1:30 p. m. The bride is a charming and accomplished yeung lady whils the groom is a well known business man of Ligonier. After the ceremeny the happy young couple will make a wedding tour and later take up a residence in this city where Mr. Selig has large business interests. Farmers of Elkhart township have organized a soeiety and will pur chase a threshing dJutfit and do their own threshing this year. A$ a recent meeting B. M. His subject ‘‘A Stretcher-bearer at St. Mihiel”, is. an interesting and amusing acceunt of his own experienices on the Verdun frent and along tlie line of the Argonne Woods, in France during the World War. Mr. Masters theugh pastor of one of ‘the most influential Churches in the State, gave up his weork at home in order that he might do his bit abro ad with our boys in the A. B. F. - Mr. Alpheus J. Sampson, a native of India, will give his travelogue on his native coumtry illustrated with fine view at the Methodist church Sunday eveningat 8:00 p. m. Mr. SBamyson comes from a high caste Brahminfamily who now four generations have been Christians. He has been in America some years as student and now is waiting his passports to return to India. He speaksthe English language with perfect idiom. The Winona Lake Bib!e Conference has sought his services for two seasons and he Look part in the greas “World in Cincinnati” some years ago. He has been invited to take part in the Centenary celebration in Columbus this month and nexs. " The trip to India will in the lecture start from New York ‘harbor and land as Bembay and then travel northward and back again to ‘the coast. Meyer and Eli Jacobs have two sisters with large families in Germanyand during the war they heard nothing frem them. Some time ago W. H. Bendsr, chairman of the heme service branch of the Red Cross conferred with the Red Cross in Germany amd sueceeded in securing knowledge of one family and now the other family has been heard frem through the same channel and the sister, Mrs. Isaac Kahn, writes that the family is well ard happy with the beys all at home except one who is a prisoner in Franee. The pe~s is very gratifying so the Messes. Jacobs and they are loud in praise of the Red Cross.
