KWlj&iii^^W&E^J^jll^^^ t ..11®®^^ *& w The Fordson Tractor ’ The Fordson tractor, manufactured by Henry Ford C& Son at ’ Dearborn, Michigan, is here. Hundreds of farm owners in this community will be interested in this announcement —in knowing that Fordson tractors are ready for distribution. The urgent need for greater production and the vital necessity of employing man-saving machinery in farm work is apparent to everyone. Remembering these immense tasks ahead, the coming of the Fordson is of importance to every farm owner at this time. The Oliver No. 7—the Plow for the Fordson “We appreciate the co-operation the Oliver Chilled Plow Works have given us in designing the proper plow for the Fordson Tractor. “We know that with the Oliver No. 7 plow the Fordson will work to the very best advantage.” [Signed] Henry Ford C& Son Oliver No. 7 has been built for the Fordson. Oliver No. 7is strictly a one-man machine. A trip lever right at the opera7 tor’s hand raises or lowers the bottoms. An even depth adjustment lever is right at hand, too. You will appreciate the high clearance of plows and beams because they save time and annoyance—just as the rake between bottoms prevents clogging with trash and makes every second of operating time count in plowed ground. The Oliver No. 7 embodies principles of plow construction founded on sixty years of making plows, of intensive study of every existing soil condition—and constant attention to the plow requirements of the tractor since the tractor industry began. GOVERNMENT WHEAT PRICES
Amount Fixed By Federal ^Authorities For Sale of Grain in United States
Col. I. D. Straus in bis remarks at the Ligonier Driving Park the other day called attention to the minimum prices fixed by the government for different grades of wheat. There is no fixed price above tbe minimum which is $2.26 for No. 1 delivered to the elevator in Chicago.
No. 2 is discounted 3 cents the bushel.
No. 3. a discount of 7 cents from the price of No. 1 is fixed. Lower grades sell at a lower discount.
Grain dealers can pay farmers any price they choose, provided however, it is-$2.00 or more per bushel. Owners of wheat can sell to anybody, and ship to any point without consent of the government. Grain dealers are not allowed to store and hold wheat in tlieir elevators for a period longer than 30 days without tire consent of the food Administration.
Grain dealers must buy wheat on government grades. These grades, while more lenient than those under which wheat has heretofore been handled, do introduce one new and important element, that of tire moisture test.
Wheat, with a high moisture content will not grade, and will sell at a very heavy discount. Ist. No authority is given anyone to fix a definite price on wheat. 2nd. The government has fixed a minimum price which the farmar must receive.
3d The grain dealer must buy wheat on government inspection rules. 4th These rules provide a moistuie test. sth. If wheat is threshed wet it is subject to a heavy discount. 6th Profiteering is prohibited. 7th The government is the sole arbiter as to what constitutes profiteering. Bth Any grain dealer guilty of profiteering will have his license revoked. 9th Any dealer having his license revoked or refusing to operate his elevator as usual is liable to have the said elevator taken over and operated by the government. 10th Fair, honest, patriotic farmers and grain dealers have nothing to fear from the Indiana department or from the U. S. Food Administration. H. E. Barnard, Federal Food Administrator For Indiana.
Save^Wheat Estimated annuaHoss *is 24,000,010 bushels or $54,000,000, three bushel for every 100 threshed is wasted. This is almost criminal waste at this time and at least fifty percent of this is preventable. Rake your fields. It isn’t too lale. Use tight bottom racks in hauling. Watch the threshing machine. Don’t let it get choked and see that all bundles go in heads first. Use all of your spare blanklets and canvas around and under the separator. - Perry Township Registrants Association, i W, H.
